View Full Version : Other Pets
We all love cockapoos, but we might love other animals as well. What other pets do you have?
We used to have birds, but they have all either passed away or we've given them away. In total we had 6 budgies (parakeets) and 1 parrotlet. They were a big part of our lives and they'll always be missed. :(
We also have fish. Only one of our fish is actually of significance though. :P Our 16-year-old iridescent shark, Sharkles, is our oldest pet. We got him when he was maybe an inch or two long, and now he's about 9 inches long! The rest of our fish are small fish, like zebra danios, neon tetras, etc. No names for them. :P

Chameleons are very easily stressed animals. They are easily scared by any noise. She gets scared when she hears the vaccuum. She gets scared when she sees Axle. She has a poor appetite. It is the type of a pet for someone who does not have any other pets and is very quiet. My husband and I like to have movie night, well the tv is too loud for her. When I go into her cage to feed her and water her she is extremely anxious. I do not want to put her health in jeapordy so I am thinking of donating her. Her name is Cera, like from The Land Before Time. :)

This may be interesting. I had 2 chinese crested dogs. My last one died in 2004. She was 14 years old. A lady stopped me one day and threatened to turn me into the police because my dogs had mange! I had a hard time trying to tell her they were just hairless dogs! lol. I used to have to put suntan lotion on them in the summer. I do miss them. Might get another one. Maybe?????? I sure like my cockapoo Chloe though.

we had another cat who we had to have PTS today Max, he had been away for years and came back at christmass, but refused to eat, we kept him for a while but started to think he was pining for whoever hasd had him all theas years, but he came back the day before yeasterday and had lost more weight and could hardly stand. we took him to the vets and they said he was very jaundice and very week. so they said that they could do tests but they thaught its was better for him concidering his condition if we let him go. i dont have any digital photos of him.

see one of our other cats Ted did that, i was out and so was my mum, my brother was in, he said that Ted came in to the livingroom where my brother was, meowing and looking about(we think for my mum) then sat in tha hall he did that twice then came in and sat with my brother and died in his arms, he was my mums cat and used to sit in her cleavege when he was a kitten when she was doing the ironing.
its strange becaise cats are ment to want to go away to die.

I had to put my Pit-bull Meffy down today. He had a stroke. He was 15 years old. I had him since he was 3 months old. He was a very brave boy to the end. I lay beside him and held his head. I am very sad. Chloe won't eat her supper and she is very quiet. I must be strong for her.......................:( I am so sad..

they pick up on things, one of our cats was knocked down, someone brought him to our door knowing he was ours, when we put him on the table one of the other cats came up and nudged him trying to wake him up.
and when my mums first cocker Tico died Mitzi pined badly and never really recuverd and died shortly after they were the same age with about 11 weeks between them (a bit like my Gypsy and Inca) they were both about 12 or 13 years old, had been together all their life and we had just moved house and their was a lot of other stress in the family that i think was too much for them.
Gypsy spent the night our cat max was put down searching for him in the house.
she will be fine you both just need time to adjust. animals pick up on so much.
just chill and relax for now, take Chloe a nice long walk and remember all the good times.

I've rehomed Novel sense my post (he wasn't happy with his amount of attention, began to scream often ect. The parents hated it, and I had no option. Turns out I'm a bad bird mom, but I found him a fabulous -experienced- home) and I hope to add a betta soon.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I did not go to work today to be with Chloe. With president's day it will make for a long weekend. She is not eating much at all. She looks so sad. I might try to arrange for a pet sitter or some such place. Or maybe get another pup. Trying to resist that. But being a working mom that might be the way to go. I only leave for 3 hours at a time each day. I know of a cute 5 month Chipoo for sale????
My Meff was so brave.but he was tired too:(

J Maree, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how unbelievably heartbreaking it is when you lose an animal you've had for so long. When my black lab died my yellow lab wandered around the house looking for her. They definitely know. But it will get better for both of you, I promise. I wish you all the best <3

Thank you, Helen. You're right, he was such a dog :) Wonderful, loving, loyal cat. Used to hop in the car for a ride or follow us down the road on foot when we walked. I know he was old but always sad to lose a member of the family :(

yes it is heart breaking I like you had to put my lurcher boy down before xmas he was 14. But it was very sudden one minute running around and then over a couple of weeks just went down hill. vet thinks he could have had a tumour but because of his age we didd'nt want to put him through major investigations cos lurchers are big wuzz's and leaving him would have put him under immense stress. So like you we had him put to sleep at home in my arms. Its something I will never forget. But it was'nt fair to allow him to suffer. You have to remind yourself that they have had a really good life with plenty of love. I have his ashes in the living room and when I have my breakfast I have a chat with him. I have 3 cats and one of them has been really strange since he has gone. On the day he was put to sleep she was walking around howling. It was very sad.
every day is hard because something reminds you of them. I have just reserved a little girl american cockapoo she is ready on the 31st march, cos I have been like a lost soul without my dog. Hope you feelin better take care. xx

Just caught this tonight. My computer had a virus!!
Yes, very strange you would be giving condolences. My heart goes out to you. 16 years is a long time, and I'm sure the loss is great. It doesn't get easier when they are old. It is harder to break the habit of looking for them and forgeting they are not around. Such a strange feeling. I dreamed of Meffy the other night and could hear his nails clicking on the floor. It was very clear. He let out a wimper. I woke up.Strange.
