Morning all

Took Darice on her first walk yesterday evening :) She was great, only took her for about 15/20 minutes as recommended (shes only 13weeks!) She wasnt quite sure on her lead to start with but soon got used to it & had a lovely time!

I was expecting her to be so sleepy & stay in her bed when we got home but instead she was still full of energy wanting to play & ran around the living room for about half an hour before finally settling down & having a nap about 8pm! We put her to bed at 10pm but she cried :( she hasnt done that in 3 weeks since our first night with her which i found strange so went back down to let her outside again incase that was why but she didnt do anything and just came back inside, i put her back in her bed & went to bed myself but she cried again, eventually stopped about 20minutes later!

Unsure if the walk had scared/worried her alittle :(

I don't think it would have been the walk. She was probably more alert though after new experience. You'll also find as she grows each week she will have more energy any way and need more exercise and stimulation. If I have an active puppy after 7pm I usually get the treats out and do some command and trick training. This wears them out mentally as well as giving them something physical to do.

Well done, Darcie! We're allowed out properly tomorrow and I've been doing a bit of practising with her in the front drive/garden and on the (clean) pavement just outside the house. She was very very nervous to start with but with lots and lots of treats, encouragement and knowing that she could go back if she wanted, she was fine by our second attempt at lunchtime. This morning she trotted straight out without any problems and we had a turn before coming back in.

Good idea to check that Darcie didn't need to go out first, but well done for persevering with 20 minutes of moaning. Pol moans a bit during the day before finding somewhere to sleep so I've learnt to ignore it.

Thank-you Clare we have been doing that too having the treats ready & training Darcie, she loves the treats so much she thinks she can have them even when she just wonders into the living room & back :)

Aw bless bet you are looking forward to taking Polly out properly tomorrow :) its so nice when you can take them out & such new adventures for them! Thank-you it can be difficult when they cry/bark but sometimes the only way is to leave them & they soon settle just not nice for us especially as they cannot tell us what is wrong :)

Hope you enjoy your walkies tomorrow :) x

that is why i like to take the lead off ginger and just chase her all over the yard, she can run like the wind ,and turn on a dime, we have great fun out there and then when she comes in ,she is ready for her nap ,i walk her in the yard on the lead and she is not quite done with the pulling part, but she is learning.,,,,,,,SL
