Hi All,

I never thought i'd have to write a post of this nature but my almost six month old, half cockapoo, half little piggy has gone off his food (which is Barking Heads)

He is still on three meals a day and has always loved his food. We are quite strict with his diet and try not to let him have any of our food, although i'm sure he has had his fair share from the floor!

In any case, i know that when he starts to go off of his lunch it is time to cut down to two meals a day, so yesterday when he didn't touch hs lunch, i wasn't too bothered.. Trouble is, he wasn't all that keen on his dinner and i really had to coax him to eat.

It was the same again with his breakfast and i'm not quite sure what is going on- could it be to do with teething?

How can i get round it?

He does eat it eventually but he doesn't wolf it down like he once did and he just seems very uniterested- asides from that he is absolutel himself and completely mad!

Any ideas would be much appreciated as this is very out of character.

Thanks,

Ashley x

Lola has gone off her food a bit recently, she is 6 months and is on BH too. I did the same as you and cut her down to 2 meals but she is still not as interested. She does eat it eventually but used to Hoover it all up in 2 seconds. I have tried putting water with it (thinking sore teeth) but that didn't help. Now I find she eats her breakfast at about 11am after her walk and I give her her dinner in a treat dispenser ball which is fun enough to get her eating - worth a try. I wonder if it could be that BH have changed their food somehow?? Hope you manage to get him eating again x

Polly has gone off BH in the last two days. But then she's receiving a lot more treats (chicken, kibble) so probably taking in the same as she was on four meals a day. Her lunch is still sitting there in the bowl and she's not touched it - will remove it soon and produce it again for tea. Full of life and fun so not concerned (at the moment...).

It's the same bag of BH so not to do with a change in the BH.

We find Gisgo may go through a phase of not seeming to want to eat much - perhaps for a few days, and then will suddenly get interested again. So you could just wait a few days and see.

Some days we mix in a few teaspoons of plain natural probiotic yoghurt which always seems to get him interested!

Their appetites do change as they grow. I would just stick to two meals a day, you should find over a few days he will realise the new eating routine and finish up his food. I wouldn't worry too much though. Mine went through a fussy stage too and by sticking to my guns he grew out of it and is a Hoover again.

Sami is not on BH, but his appetite changed drastically at 9 months, went from a Hoover to take it or leave it . . when he does not eat, I just cover and put it up to offer for the next meal . . he is thriving and lively, so I try not to worry . . it does bother me when he refuses 2 meals in a row . . he did that today, but has eaten fairly well a few minutes ago. I guess his growth spurt is over and he is needing less now?

my ginger is 4 months old now and yesterday and today we really had to coax her to eat. she gets blue bufflo,i'm going out tomorrow and get some blue bufflo in the can and mix a tinny bet with her kibble and see if that helps.i don't like them not to eat .really she used to wolf it down ,,what do you think ,any good

Hmm it would seem we are back to square one with the little man not wanting his food.. He seems to have gone off it completely..

Very out of character, could it be Barking Heads? Is it possible that he is bored of it?

We recently moved him from James Wellbeloved to Barking Heads and i'm not sure i want to change his food again, unless i absolutely have to!

I've changed Millie's food many times as she was/is a fussy eater ie she will eat some meals and not others. I've come to the conclusion that she eats when she's hungry. I have to view it over a week or two rather than on a daily basis. She will eat over a week about 10 meals out of 14. She's perfectly healthy, just seems to know when she's hungry and when she's not.
