Hello!

Looking for advice please if you have a sec.
We have reserved a Cockapoo puppy, due to be picked up in 3 weeks when he will be 8 weeks old. We have had regular photos and videos from the first time breeder. A couple of things struck me when looking at photos the other day, please see attached. Firstly his ears seem very short for a Cockapoo, and secondly, his coat seems extremely smooth rather than fluffy.
Do Cockapoos change greatly as they get older? Ie will the coat change or be very straight and will his ears drop down more?

Sorry for the ramble, we are potential first time dog owners, newbies! Any thoughts much appreciated.

many thanks,
Jim

Have you got a better photo of mum? As they are a cross they will not all have the same coats and some do stay smooth coated.

I agree that mum doesn’t look like typically cocker spaniel. Do you know where the pups are being raised as I noticed a red glow in one of the photos that could be from a heat lamp. Also in the photo with mum and pups the carpet seems to be going up a wall and isn’t fitted so wondering if that’s the whelping box Or if they are being kept outside in a shed.

Totally agree with the other comments. They look cute as do all pups but looks like kept outside. My first thought also was why a heat lamp. Must be your decision in 5he end though.

Absolutely they are cute and you’ll have no trouble loving it no matter what, but I’d be concerned if you were paying massively inflated cockapoo price for a pup that’s not. We had a rescue dog that had been born and raised outside and this really affected her socialisation and we had problems relating to this the whole 15 years we had her. We didn’t love her any less, but it was like doggy mental health problems for life.

Definitely don’t want to pay the price they ar3 charging for cockerpoos at the moment. id want to at least see mums pedigree and dads if they are being sold as f1’s. All the best whatever you do.
