I had half day off work today as the dog sitter has gone off for a short break..
I thought as I had a bit more time I would take Betty somewhere different for a walk so I went to Englemere pond near Ascot. When we first arrived we met a dog walker coming in the opposite direction - normally Betty would run up to dogs to join in the fun but this time she turned tail and ran off in the opposite direction:eek: - I am just wondering if it was the shame of her being seen out for the first time in her Equafleece ( YES I was brave enough to be with her wearing it!!). After much calling and arm waving by me she finally came back.
Half way around the pond (lake) Betty made a large yelp - I thought she had been prickled by a holly bush but on closer inspection i found that she had a rather dopey wasp stuck in the base of her tail!! I managed to remove it
( with my bare hands - I know I am very brave)..but it left Betty feeling very sorry for herself with her tail between her legs. We could not have been further from the car park but had no choice but to head back asap - in my rush to get her back to the car I took a wrong turning and got completely lost..I ended up coming out on the main road about two miles from where I needed to be and ended up having to carry Betty who was pretty worn out by then!!
Anyway we finally got home and Betty seemed to not be too affected by the sting but as a treat I have just given her one of the deers ears I got at the dog show yesterday...and SHE LOVES IT.. which is great as they don't smell
like pigs ears and dont look , well, as much like an ear!! She seems to much prefer it to the stag bar so if anyone else is interested in them or any other
venison products they can be bought online at www.venisonforpets.co.uk

Thank you for listening!

Colin I bet you were glad you took 1/2 day today - it would have been less stressfull in work!! Poor Betty embarrassed, stung and lost all in the same day!!
Im going to give the deers ears a go i think, as Arthur loves pigs ears but with 2 small kids i keep having to tell them they are not really from pigs but its just how they are shaped plus the smell is pretty bad!!!

That was an eventful walk Colin, and a long way back for you. Thanks for the venison products info, they look great ... are the antler chews the same thing as stag bars?

The only one I don't fancy is the "Trax" ie. trachea!

What an afternoon for you! Poor Betty getting stung! :( I have to say Colin, that is the sort of thing I do. It took me ages to stop getting lost in the Milton Keynes shopping centre. If I leave by the wrong exit it throws me completely and I am lost.....I know, women and sense of direction....it is right in my case!

Thanks for the tip about the venison ears I will have a look at that later. :D

I also get lost Colin, if I don't know directions before I go somewhere in the car it really stresses me out! & i'm forever shouting at my boyfriend to tell me which way to go! It is a woman thing ;) & apparently a slight man thing Colin :D

Sounds like you had an eventful walk! Maybe could have been better :( Sorry to hear she got stung! Izzie did once in our garden on her paw & she didn't take it very well!

Oh Colin what a nightmare for you & Betty. And all you wanted was to treat her to a nice walk somewhere different. I'm so glad she's not reacted badly to the sting & has recovered enough to enjoy her treat. Might invest in some of those myself!!

A very eventful walk and so long. Poor you and poor Betty.

We were walking on Studland Beach this weekend and kept going all the way back to the chain ferry!. Luckily we found a bus stop and only had to wait 10 mins for the hourly bus to give us a ride back to the car. Don't think Millie would have coped with the 5 mile walk back having run herself silly on the beach.

Not sure about the venison treats. I'm worried they will give Millie a taste for the real thing and as we do come across live deer on some walks it could prove rather embarrassing. :)
