I had half day off work today as the dog sitter has gone off for a short break..
I thought as I had a bit more time I would take Betty somewhere different for a walk so I went to Englemere pond near Ascot. When we first arrived we met a dog walker coming in the opposite direction - normally Betty would run up to dogs to join in the fun but this time she turned tail and ran off in the opposite direction
- I am just wondering if it was the shame of her being seen out for the first time in her Equafleece ( YES I was brave enough to be with her wearing it!!). After much calling and arm waving by me she finally came back.
Half way around the pond (lake) Betty made a large yelp - I thought she had been prickled by a holly bush but on closer inspection i found that she had a rather dopey wasp stuck in the base of her tail!! I managed to remove it
( with my bare hands - I know I am very brave)..but it left Betty feeling very sorry for herself with her tail between her legs. We could not have been further from the car park but had no choice but to head back asap - in my rush to get her back to the car I took a wrong turning and got completely lost..I ended up coming out on the main road about two miles from where I needed to be and ended up having to carry Betty who was pretty worn out by then!!
Anyway we finally got home and Betty seemed to not be too affected by the sting but as a treat I have just given her one of the deers ears I got at the dog show yesterday...and SHE LOVES IT.. which is great as they don't smell
like pigs ears and dont look , well, as much like an ear!! She seems to much prefer it to the stag bar so if anyone else is interested in them or any other
