At last we have a puppy on the way! After a good eight months of investigation we have at last confirmed our puppy and will be collecting Kipper on the 1st July - so excited!

It's been really useful to have access to this forum, it gives so much information and advice.

I've been reading a great deal about past posts about introducing the cats to the puppy - I think that's the part I'm most nervous about, but my instinct is that the cats will eventually be fine. They were when we had our son George, once they decided he was nothing to worry about they're now best friends!

I shall post a picture as soon as we have one!

Congrats and good luck with the cats! I had a nightmare, but my cat was 16. We ended up having to fence our garden in half and separate the house with stair gates as my cat hissed and swiped at the puppy so the puppy wanted to chase and terrorise the poor old cat. I did manage to get them sit next to each other for treats, but as soon as the treat session was over war would begin again. Sadly my cat passed away (kidney and thyroid - not puppy). Loads of people on here have both without problems.

We introduced honey into our home 12 weeks ago with two 10 year old cats. We have stair gate so honey can't go upstairs. One of the cats has only just started to come down, she hisses and swipes at Honey and keeps away from her. The other cat refuses to come down, I'm hoping in time the other cat will start to accept her, it's a difficult one! Good luck x

Hi there,

You must be SO excited! What cross is Kipper and what colour?

Re the cats, this is a good thread: http://www.ilovemycockapoo.com/showthread.php?t=3876&page=3&highlight=Saffi+cats

Our puppy Saffi is five months old and our cats now rub against her when they're waiting for their food and they all touch noses in greeting when we bring Saffi home from a walk... I can't believe how well it has gone. Two of my cats are 13 so we presumed it would be awful.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Wow Turi - that is some list! Obviously paid off, so shall adopt similar tactics!!

Kipper is a working cocker x miniature poodle - chocolate brown with a little white on tummy and paws.

I shall keep you posted with our progress!

Many thanks
