Hey there everyone
I have to say how much I love this forum, the support everyone gives is amazing and I really enjoy logging on with a cuppa when Benji's having a snooze and hearing what everyone has been up to. I'm just sorry I can't offer much advice yet, its all quite new to me. But whenever I can, I will ;)

I wrote a comment the other day on the training and bonding thread re biting as we were having a very challenging time with Benji, particularly biting me and hanging off my clothes and growling at the same time (he doesn't to it to hubbie, so feel as if Benji thinks I am the weakest link :(). Anyway, with the advice I read on the biting thread, it made me feel so much better and I've started using your tips (he doesn't respond to any ouches or yelps, no matter if I scream like my hand is being ripped off :(, so now he gets two warning (he is starting to respond to a quick sharp 'hey') and if he doesn't stop, or I am not able to redirect his clothes tugging or other biting of me, then it is straight into the kitchen for a couple of minutes time out.

Question about kitchen time out (this is the only room I dare leave him in alone) - a couple of times now he will go in and it will go quiet (other times he is crying at the door). The times he is quiet he has done a #1 and sometimes a #2 on the floor:confused: Before this he had never done a #2 in the house, so I felt v guilty. I am guessing he is rebelling? I try not to put him in the kitchen if it is time for taking him out to 'do his business'...... Should I continue to put him in the kitchen for time out?

Anyway, on a happier note, generally we think he is doing really well. He loves it outside (though if we let him off his lead as a treat for doing his business and for a run about, only the best sausage or some cheese seem to get him back in the house again!). He slept from 2300hrs-0715hrs (I got up first!) and a dry bed last night (hopefully not a one off, has had a dry bed for 3 nights running now).

We love him to bits! :D

Off to the vets for 2nd injection today and another trip in the car (he really doesn't like the car, bless).

I'll try and attached a few more pics and will try upload some video of him too - any hints on how to do this? My photos seem to exceed the limit, is there another way?

Hi Kaz! Welcome to the forum. I am relatively new myself (new to the forum and new to puppyhood!) so I am learning a lot too. I love it here and the people seem to be so friendly and helpful. As for your pics - you could always try to resize them on your computer before uploading the edited photo onto the forum. I don't know what type of system you are on so can't give you specifics!

Our puppy is all about the biting too. Anything that she shouldn't chew on she is like a magnet to! We give her a sharp 'Hey!' and then redirect her biting onto something she is allowed to chew on - such as her toy(s). Its a work in progress, but consistency is the key. Keep at it and eventually he will get it. It's my understand (wrong or right?) that they go through stages growing up so be firm with him now and it will pay off when he is older. I was afraid that my new puppy would single me out as the weaker pack member but I have made a point to be firm and consistent with the training and she seems to respect me more for it. There are days when they just start to 'get it', and you may find there are days they take a step backwards but a hard lesson for me to learn was that if I am inconsistent with the training and the feedback I give her, her behaviour suffers because she is lacking that direction from a 'pack leader'. I'm no expert by any means - i am learning each day!! :D

I hope you find all the information you need on this forum - it IS fantastic. :D

awww! what great updates :) Glad that Benji and Poppy are fitting in well.

It really is a matter of patience and keeping at it! We've had Vincent 10 weeks now (is that all??) and it's only been recently that I can wear my dressing gown again without him chewing and hanging off of it!!

Great updates from you both Kaz & Marcia :D Glad the pups are doing well!
With the biting it is just something they do because of their teeth while they are little so just keep at what you are doing, tbh I think having Izzie means that we don't get quite as much biting, poor Izzie, but we do tell her to stop at times when we think Izzie probably wants to chill & if she doesn't we also put her in the kitchen. The kitchen has worked well for us so far with Poppy & has always worked well with Izzie so I think it's probably a good idea to stick with it for now. Especially if it seems to be working :)

Izzie has also never liked the car, she gets stressed out (although is much better now than she used to be) but she pants quite a lot so we try to open windows for her to get some air. Poppy is great in the car, she doesn't even seem to care that she's in it.

Keep at it all & your pup will be a very well behaved adult ;) But watch out for the teenage rebellion stage around a year old! Haha

Biscuit hates the car too! I take him twice a day on the school run and he's getting better now and quietens down quicker. It works best when he's tired. I think it just makes him feel sick as has been sick once during the first week and was retching this morning when we got back - although nothing came out as he refused his NI breakfast today and I am being a firm pack leader today! We haven't had any hanging off clothes but he is still quite mouthy at times. I think the "no!" and then a toy works best for us. I also gently nudge him aside if he tries to chew something inappropriate and that works after a couple of times too. It's all great fun though. Can't wait to see some more pictures of Benji as he looks so cute!!
