Our pup, Waldo, around 5 months, and still gets nippy. If he won't stop (or if it escalates!) when we say NO! he gets a mini time-out in his crate. We put him in, and hold the door shut for as long as it takes him to sit down (not pawing at the door or pacing) and then let him out (no more than 1 minute usually). Then he steps out, shakes it off and goes for a toy that we offer. But we definitely have our share of bruises and torn clothes from the past few months!

I must have been really lucky as I never had any biting with my two.
Plenty of kisses and jumping all over us but no biting.

Dexter was a terrible biter- we tried all ways to stop him. The dominance thing never worked, just got him more excited. I'm glad to say he is now at 4 months almost completely over it- I think they just grow out of it, just like he has stopped eating everything in the garden.

I remember this time last year Weller was biting, tearing up and eating all plants in the garden( including the hedge and fence) leaving lots of wee stains all over the lawn, digging holes, pulling washing off line line oh and taking anything and everything that wasn't nailed down out in to the garden.............WHAT A PEST!!!!!!!
Your post has made me realise that it has ALL stopped. I can't tell you when but it does stop. The biting I can sort of remember as stopping when he got his big teeth but try not to worry, your little monster will soon make way for the most beautiful pet

Flossy is almost 4 months and she just started to stop the biting and picking everything she shes up and chewing it, we just noticed that one day we could cuddle her without being chewed on

No the horn grew on him and he started to enjoy it! The rest of the famiy couldn't stand it!

Hi! I just joined so I just saw this post from several months ago. Emily is 14 weeks old now and I have virtually then exact same issues with my two younger kids ages eight and three. Are things going better now? When did Kali stop the nipping?

Now that Daisy is coming out of herself we have just started to have this problem. Yesterday she bit Henry on the leg out on the garden and this morning she was going for Lizzie's ankles!

They have started to become scared of her which is really sad but I am hoping that they realise how their behave may effect Daisy in making her excited.

I am wondering if this is late for a dog to be bitey? If it is maybe it is because she never went through this stage when she was younger or maybe it is just normal?

Try this my puppy trainer told me at the weekend (Buddy is very very bitey and has ripped all our clothes)

She said stand still turn your back on him and fold your arms ,OMG it so works!!!! its as if ive found a magical cure!!

At first he may carry on biting your trs for example but just ignore and within a few seconds he stops,he hardly does it with me any more but he will go back for a second go at my husband and kids but if you all do it he will finally realise this game is boring so he will stop doing it.
