Hi, Hattie has been home 9 days and getting on quite well, good in crate in car can be left settles down to sleep, can be left for an hour or so in crate at home quiet when I come back, toilet training progressing, so I just need her to sleep through the night! She will settle quite quickly and sleeps untill about 3/4 am when she needs a pee and poo no problem there straight out job done but then she does not want to go back to crate. My plan is to get a smaller crate that will fit into my room so she will be able to see me and hopefully she will settle again. She sleeps on my feet during the day if I won't let her up on may lap so she does not get her own way. I know she should be left to cry and indeed she will not be taken out of her crate when in my room but I have a duty of care to my neighbours who have not complained but must be able to hear her. Each day can be different but I can feel myself stressing about lack of sleep (not a good sleeper at the best of times!) so hoping this will do the trick. She will have her bed in my room once she is toilet trained that was always the plan.Anyway wish me luck!!

Quite normal your lack of sleep at this stage.
I've used both methods, Poppy was left in her crate in the kitchen over night and would not settle, Rosie was In a small crate in our bedroom and soon started to sleep longer, she is now 7 months and sleeps in a bed with Poppy on the landing and they both sleep until I get up for work at about 6:AM, and longer at weekends.
Hard work at first it will soon get better.

We also had broken nights at first, Gaia would go into her crate, ceased to cry after a week or so, but would wake 2 to 3 in the morning for a wee and poo. It also took a week or so before she went back with out crying. Now she goes in at 10:30 and has to be woken at 6:15 week days and 8:30 weekends. We did find that she settled better and for longer when we covered the crate so that she couldn't see out. Good luck, one day you will awake and wonder ............ no wake up;)

HI Mar don't mind getting up at 0530 indeed I have spent the last 30 years often getting up at 0430 for work, but I mind getting up then if I have already been up at 0300! However the 'revised' nightime routine was far more relaxed still went out for poo/pee at 0300 but she settled again whilst I enjoyed a cuppa before dozing untill 0545 so I hope this continues. Thank you all for your encouragment, I know it will come right in the end!

I've had my puppy for two weeks now. She started out in the crate, waking me up every night around 4am. After a week, she didn't want to go back to the crate (in my room) either. The last two nights I gave up on the crate and let her sleep with me and she has been good. Last night she slept through the night for the first time! YAY!

Just a quick update we have got into a reasonable routine, into crate at around 2200 I usually need a comfort break around 0200 so pop her out for one too although she is usually asleep so she goes straight back to crate without a fuss. I unfortunatly wake early usually around 0530 so we get up then but I am hoping for some lie ins soon, back to bed with a cuppa!
