We finally found a dog that can tire Waldo out -- my Boss's whippet!

However, Waldo is usually hyped up no matter how much play-time or walks he has... any tips on calming him down? He nips at us if we try to hold/pet/snuggle him, thinking we all need to KEEP PLAYING... and it can get very frustrating. He's only a little over 5 months now, and I am hopeful as he gets older he'll be able to settle down faster and better? Here he is after a 2 hour hike/romp, and then some fetch time... we were all pooped except for him!

During puppy class, our trainer had us get them all wired and then had us call the dogs, sit on the ground with their backs to us. We would put our hand under their front legs and tip them back toward your body. Have some treats in that had and with the other hand, rub his belly calmly and speak soothingly to him. When he settles, tell him good boy (or whatever words you're using) and treat him.

Eventually you'll be able to do this for long periods of time and it'll help calm him. Hopefully that description makes sense!!! :)
