Hi ther, I need some help finding someone who breeds a standard poodle with a cocker ..... We were so very lucky to look after a dog a couple of weeks ago and he was the most handsome dog you've ever seen. He was lovely and tall, some might say lanky witha lovely non molting poddle coat but had the square nose and ears of a spaniel and the most wonderful beard ....my god I miss him and would love to find one just like him! please help.... I live in Essex but really don't mind where I'd have to travel to.
Thanks .......

Hi.

It is lovely that you enjoyed looking after your friends dog so much and bonded with him.

Cockapoos are normally bred from a Miniature poodle and a Cocker Spaniel as they are a similar size. A Standard Poodle would normally be bred when producing Labradoodles as they are a better size match.

Most Cockapoos are low to non moulting but there is no guarantee that this will be the case. As a cross breed they is always a chance they will take after the Cocker side more.

If you would like to find more out about Cockapoos then have a good look around on this forum but also on The Cockapoo Owners Club website. There are different types of Cockapoos and also things to consider such as health tests and finding a good breeder. Because Poodle crosses are popular at the moment it is essential to do lots of research before getting a Cockapoo puppy.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I too think you will struggle to find a responsible good breeder breeding that type of cross as it is a complete mismatch in terms of size. So I would suggest if a big tall dog is what you are after then perhaps the labradoodle would be a better choice. Good luck :)
hello i cant recommend a breeder, but there was this cross on preloved, a chocolte male, 9 months old,it does nt say on the ad he is a standard poodle cross, but i phoned up about him and the lady told me he was a standard poodle cross, you could have a look and see if he is still in there, i think his name was barney hth x
Sorry cant tell you where to go for this mix .. but I do wish you well in your search :)

Not sure about preloved for dog adverts as mentioned above, not a big fan of dog ads on there, not enough info and so many of them too ...

jo jo , if you are not a fan of finding an older cockapoo on preloved, can you point me in the direction of where to look? i dont like epupz, i am finding this whole "searching " business a bit of a nightmare
Hi, you could try Foxisle Gun Dogs, it's where we got Gaia and they had a standard poodle which had just had a litter of cockapoo's. It's not a common mix as it does need human assistance and it had taken Foxisle 2 years to produce this litter.

Hope that helps.
hello, in case you want to look , there is a cocker x standard poodle now on preloved , the other one has gone, type in "cocker x" he is black, doe snt look at all like a poodle, might be worth looking, as he is being offered free ( which i dont agree with , he could end up anywhere )
With regards to size being a miss match.my friends standard poodle is just under 19 inches tall and several cockers i have walked have been on the larger size so i think this would only be unsuitable if lets say the standard poodle was 25 inches and cocker 15 inches, poodle would most definately have to be mum though.x
Hi & welcome :)

Sorry no idea where to look for the standard poodle cross, it's the most uncommon in cockapoos because of the size differences.
Maybe a labradoodle is you really want a big dog?

But I wish you luck in your search :)

Hi Jane if you looked after this dog then as you would know the owners perhaps ask them where they got the dog from?

There is no guarantee with a cross that you will find a replicate and even harder to find reputable breeders whom are doing standard poodle crosses, as this is not the poodle that is usually used. A standard Poodle would also have different health tests requirements from toys and minis.
Hi there,

Welcome to the forum.

In all my time researching Cockapoos I never came across a breeder who used a Standard Poodle. The logistics of a large mum and a smaller Cocker sire make it difficult.

As others have mentioned you could investigate a Labradoodle though if you want a non shedding dog I would get an F1b because the first generational Labradoodles can moult. Also check out Springerdoodles and Goldendoodles.

Best of luck and let us know how you get on.
Have a look at Breeders Online no standard/cocker crosses but good for finding local breeder and apparently they are keen on reputable breeders and ask for evdence of health checks but don't hold me to that just what my breeder said I have no evidence to support this. Found Hattie through them.
Golden doodles are lovely, I have only seen one but she was a stunner, wonderful soft coat. My sister is a puppy walker for dogs for the disabled and had a labradoodle who moulted loads - I'm always surprised when they are advertised as non shedding, guess they are just less shedding than labradors who moult a lot, I think generally longer coated dogs seem to shed less, though maybe this is just becaused they get groomed more and it comes out in the brush....sorry, losing the original thread a bit!
