Hello, a newbie here.

Does anyone know of any breeders in Scotland? I've been researching Cockapoos for ages and am keen to know if there are any breeders in Scotland - I'm just outside Glasgow. Are there any meet ups / cockapoo groups near here? (So many questions! Sorry)

They are such gorgeous looking dogs :) I'll travel any distance for the right puppy / breeder but would hate to miss one on my doorstep!!

Thanks in advance.

Hi KKD, I'm in East Lothian. We had a Central Scotland meet last month, the wettest day in February! The plan was to make it a regular event - I think Sheilagh/Tressa/ Kendal were intending to organise something. I'm heading over the border to Bamburgh on 17th March to meet up with some other owners, you'd be most welcome :)

Hi KKD - I have a friend who is looking for a cockapoo in Central Scotland, too. Pretty thin on the ground here north of the border, I am afraid. If I hear of anything I will let you know. We got Teddy from Jandaz in Wales, my girls travelled down for him, as there was nothing around here at all. Good luck in your search.

Hi Sheilagh - I was just thinking about our plan for a meet but didn't do anything as I am going to be in London this weekend, as luck would have it. Maybe Kendal and others would be able to make it. I am really sorry to miss it, as I was looking forward to meeting up again - maybe without the rain this time, of course. I am still game for a meeting any other time. Hope it goes ahead.
Sorry - should have put this in the 'meets' section.

Wow!! Hello. What a lovely friendly bunch - bodes well for the Cockapoos! :)

Thank you for all your posts. Well we headed South of the Border for the weekend on a Cockapoo hunt.

Sorry to say I wasn't too impressed with the first 'breeder'. Too many things just didn't seem to add up (advert was completely different to what we were seeing) and I had a bad feeling. Don't want to speak ill of people but the thoughts "puppy mill" sprung to mind. Felt SO down that we weren't giving any those pups a home but I'm sure they will be taken.

So............................... the big news is we've reserved a wee boy cockapoo!!:D (Lincoln so probably from the same place as yours Kendal??) Mum has a beautiful temperament, pups were clean, active, interested, good hygiene as we entered, guy answered all my questions, no pressure at all. :) The little guy will be ready to come home on Easter Sunday. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

PLease keep me up to date with meet ups etc. Sounds good - not made of sugar so won't melt in the rain.

LOL!!! I feel like an expectant mother, getting the house ready, buying things, reading everything I can........LOL! And have a fab forum where people sound as Cockapoo daft as me!!

He probably has! :) Oh names is an ongoing discussion with my kids (ages 12 and 13). So far we have either Humphrey, Scottie, Lincoln or Edgar. The list changes daily!! He's black with a few tiny white flashes. Utterly gorgeous! (But then I suppose I'm bias)

I had a dog years ago ( a Heinz 57 variety ) and we did SO many things wrong. Nicky ruled the roost and the only person he listened to was my Dad. We let him be top dog. I'm determined to get the balance right this time.

What's are your two like?

I'm guessing if you went to Lincoln you went to Sylml for your puppy. If you did, my cockapoo is from there. Fabulous temperament. Do you know if Zac is daddy again?

You are a fast mover at choosing a breeder/puppy. Mind you, once my hubby gave me the green light for a cockapoo, we came home with one 3 days later, from Sylml :D

Enjoy the preparation stage and getting ready. :D

Haha yeah names is always a problem! Took my family weeks to all agree on names :) But we got there in the end! I like Lincoln :)

Yeah try get a balance! My girls are amazing, Izzie is so clever (Poppy not quite so much, but not dumb either), both gorgeous, and such lovely personalities, they're little characters :D

But I think Izzie is definitely queen bee in the house ;) She's a little madam, she thinks she royalty, but she's so lovable and loves coming and stiting on my knee or next to my legs for cuddles :) She may have gotten away with a little too much but she's still a brilliant dog, wouldn't change my girls for the world :) Part of the family :)

The name 'Bernard' has been added to the list this morning.

We've been thinking of getting a dog for a long while now. My first thought was for a Bichon Frise but after speaking to a good few trainers was put off. Majority of them said they were not as friendly as their outward appearance would suggest. The fact that several trainers said this kind of put me off them so we started looking at cockapoos and labradoodles. We settled on cockapoos as lots of reading / talking to people / internet searches etc highlighted that they can be friendly, energetic, clever, affectionate so they should fit in with the family. I prefer their height and coat to the labradoodle too. I know a dog will only be as good as you put into it and we're as ready as I think you can be although I have an inclining its going to be like having a newborn baby back in the house again - nothing can really prepare you for it!

35 days and counting! :)

Milliedog, (Do I use that or Julie??) He's coming from foxisle near Doncaster. (My geography is DREADFUL. My friend was the driver and he plotted cockapoo bredders everywhere on the journey!)

Understand your issue, we too were going to go south to get a puppy but were lucky enough to find a litter of f1 pups in kirkaldy, fife. 5 weeks later 'gizmo' is a wonderful addition to our lives. Keep watching all the usual ads and see what comes up, I know the lady we met is likely to breed again but not sure when as mum needs a rest! I will ask her and let you know if I get any feedback :)
