Hi there,

any tips with fitting a harness to an 9 week old pup? My idea was the fit a harness and lead for safety whilst i carrying him (vaccinations still due) outside to discover some new sights and sounds. Is my logic spot on?

Also the boy isn’t that keen on treats so I’m rewarding good behaviour with more with attention and play which works fantastically at times haha. Any treats safe and good to motivate a cockapoo pup?

Thankyou

By the way I have managed to fit it a couple of times when he was 8 weeks old whilst distracting him with a toy. But he just grows more and more curious and wants to chew the harness

All dogs are motivated by different things, but I’ve never met a dog not motivated by cooked chicken 😀. I’d think practising fitting and removing the harness is a good idea, with lots of positive association. I’d just make sure it’s comfy while he’s being carried and there’s no chance of it nipping or digging into him. I can imagine it’s hard getting opportunities for socialisation at the moment so getting him out and about is great.
some harnesses are easier to fit than others- we have found the julius k9 to be the easiest for us. Have fun trying 😂
