I agree with 2nd opinion. Have a back up plan, in case it doesn't work out. But I must say that if you are willing to train the dog from the moment you have him/her at 8 weeks old, it would be fine.

My dogs are very sociable and they would love it. Specially the eldest one who is in love with children. And they can both stay still in a room for hours if needed. But remember that when they are little they need a lot of rest and sleep and they can be very grumpy if they are over tired, so they cannot be playing all the time with kids or they might bite them.

Also, when they are little, the bite and the children might end up scared....

Just some thoughts, perhaps not the ones you wanted to hear.
