well day of their first walk and what an experience this was. Daisy loved it little bit of pulling but not too bad, just need her to learn not to pull and to walk nicely, diesel on the other hand is a lazy little tinker haha he plonked himself down and wouldn't budge, he ended up being carried all the way to school and all the way back, daisy loved it he loathed it.

any advice on walking them both together would be great, ie getting diesel to actually walk :confused:

I had the same with Molly, I would take her out and within 2 steps she wouldn't move. I can remember coming home and crying I thought she would never want to go out, but with a lot of encouragement and lots of treats she was away and happy to go. Just persevere and you'll get him going, maybe try taking him out alone a couple of times.
Daisy sounds like Sid doesn't pull and full of confidence. It was easier for me having had Molly first and already a keen walker and Sid just full of confidence just followed her. Having taken him out in my arms with Molly he was more than ready to get down and join her when the time came!
Good luck , keep us posted on his progress :)

Is this the first time on lead, or has he had one on at home and in the garden?
I use a tandem lead for mine, this might encourage diesel to walk, tug, pull, and trot alongside daisy?
The tandem is a small double connection that goes on to the end of the lead and then attaches to each collar, does that make sense??

Ps your first walk still sounds like fun x

At this age, i had a harness rather than a collar to attach his leads to. It's a little mean but I just walked and kept going. After a little drag (very little), they would follow me. I also walked faster so never had the chance to sit down. They loved trotting and running so I would do that for a bit then they would keep walking when I needed to slow down. Also, it's fun to watch them walk but they really want to follow you. So you or someone else needs to lead. When they were small my two were always a touch behind me following me (the trainer used to laugh how they would trail behind me when other dogs usually go in front and the human follows the puppy).
Something to keep in mind - they don't stay little so carrying them may become something you do when they are full grown. Ask Donna. I made sure that they always walked the whole way because I knew there would come a time I couldn't carry them home.
