Evening all,
Well we were out for our first proper walk today. We went to a local estate (Stormont Castle which is where our parliament building is) in the car. It has a huge wooded area and plenty of grassland where dog walkers frequent. It was perfect.. Lola got to meet some other dogs and she was grand, a little frightened of a springer but other than that all good. As soon as we got away from the main walkway we let her off the lead. She was soooo good. Her recall is just amazing! She tottered along in front then stopped for a wee sniff then caught up with us. She was too mesmerised to play with anyone or anything and was just happy to be frolicking about in the wooded areas with felled trees and lots of sticks and bark. She was always looking to see where we were and we were conscious not to fuss too much about walking ahead of her. As soon as we called she came running. She is sooo tiny against everything and other dogs, it was really funny. Regret not taking phone or camera. We decided to walk back on ourselves a bit (trying to make it as short as possible for her plus she was starting to flag a wee bit) and when she realised she started to run really fast... I think she was excited at the prospect of getting back to the car. It was like she knew exactly why we had turned back. I called her when we got close to the main walkway and she came to let us put her lead back on. Back to car for a large lapping up of water and home. She has been asleep in her crate while I'm cooking, I even had to wake her for her own dinner. She's a brill girl.
Sorry for the long post... Part of me cannot believe:
a) I own a dog
b) I am raving about her proudly and;
c) I LOVE HER TO PIECES
