Over the past few weeks Oakley has gone from wolfing his food down to being very reticent to eat & finally to hardly eating his food at all. He has been on Royal Canin since the beginning & has always loved it.

I have tried mixing in peanut butter or cream cheese & that seemed to get him to eat but it really was becoming a chore & short of leaving his food down in the hope that he would eat when he was starving I couldn't see a way forward other than changing his food.

However last night I decided to add a little water to his food & since then he has eaten every scrap for the last 3 meals :D I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he just didn't like his food that dry & that he continues to eat.

Thought I'd post in case anyone else is having a problem like this.

Exactly the same has happened to Tilly. The last week she has really not wanting to eat. I tried putting water on her barking head food it worked for a couple of days and then she turned that down. I went and bought her the one for fussy eaters well she must be very fussy because she just looks at it and walks off!!! What to do???

I can't see on my phone how old your poos are but if they are teething age then go back to adding moisture to the kibble as it may be making their teeth more sore and sensitive. I have had to do that with Jarvis and he is enjoying his food more.. Add tepid not hot water as not to destroy any added vitamins :) x

I hear or read of this frequently with cockapoos.. my dogs are not big eaters really.

I also heard that Poodles can be fussy, not sure how true this is, but I have been told Poodles like the finer things in life, real meat or nose turned up at it lol .. sound like me with my food, oh I do like my food..

Anyway my advise, would be to keep checking your dogs weight each month and you may like to add a little natural yoghurt to dried food, or even a little cooked chicken or tuna as a special treat at times ... but weight is something I keep a close eye on... my dogs don't eat alot but their weight is always steady :)

Most of all please don't worry xxx

We went to the vet nurse the other day JoJo & he's put on 0.8kg in the last month, so nothing to worry about at the moment :D
Will definitely keep an eye on his weight in the future though.
