This is prime age for pups to be rehomed and folk will generally tell of allergies, life changes, work changes and new babies all reluctantly forcing them to rehome. Generally the truth will be they have put little to no time into the pup and it is now turning into a major pain. The two biggest issues with cockapoos tend to be separation anxiety and resource guarding both of which take time and experience to deal with.
I got Molly when she was 17 months old with a reason of not getting on with the other dog. My two main questions were has she ever shown any aggression and is she OK being left. They assured me she was fine being left up to 4 hours and had never shown any aggression. She actually did not cope being left at all and had quite serious resource guarding where she would bite anyone over almost anything.
I had met her out and about and quite liked her, she was clearly totally untrained, had not been walked for a long time and never been off the lead. She had however been socialised as pup and was quite confident and happy to say hello.
She is fabulous and I would not change her for the world but I was fortunate that I could deal with most of her issues and had an excellent friend who had her for me while I was working while I worked on the separation anxiety - a dog you can not leave at all is exhausting.
