Hattie's first day & night!

Well she's here. Quite good on journey home moaned a bit but settled. Kept going most of the day lost count of the number of pees! She seems to be able to do it on the run.Went to bed at 2230 she grumbled for about five minutes then went off to sleep. I of course stayed awake! Let out at 0230 straight back to crate (which is in the spare room so she can sense I am nearby) grumbled again for 10 minutes before going off, I stayed awake(!) out again at 0430 for yet another wee by this time I had given up any thoughts of sleep but stayed in bed until 0545 as I don't want her to start getting up early. Good job I used to work shifts many of which were nights. Getting a bit old for it now though. Anyway thats about it just had her in crate to give me a bit of down time she was not best pleased but she will have to get on with it.This single parent lark is tough going! Will try for some photos today once my eyes start to focus.

Hey Hattie, :welcome:
I can't wait to see pics - and I hope you are not feeling too tired, you'll have to take some naps whilst she snoozes during the day :)
I love your dedication and sounds like she's settling in her crate well, Benji loves his crate when he is sleepy, so now we're working with him to love going in there when he is wake too and settling himself.
Have so much fun with Hattie, look forward to hearing more :D

I didn't sleep much the first night either!! I also have the same problem that Biscuit is happy to go in his crate at night when sleepy but still fusses during the day if I have to pop out. However, he is always settled when I get back. I have started to leave the radio on, which I think helps him feel he is not alone. I have to be honest and say I can't hear him at night as he is downstairs in a closed off room. That is they only way I can cope with him, together with three boys!! I just leave a puppy pad and most days it is dry. Even when it's wet is doesn't interfere with his training and he is already running to the back door to relieve himself during the day.

hi Sue/jane, its great that there are so many new puppies on the forum at the moment. its good to share all the different experiences. ive just spent an hour lying half in/out the crate trying to get RocketDog to want to go in. he seems ok with the door open but when i shut it he uses his built in meggaphone to let the whole town know. It is amazing something so small has such lung capacity! Hatties favourite is a cross between a wimper and a howl sounds a bit like a donkey! Anyway my neighbours very nicely said they didn't hear anything last night. I am so shattered she may just have to get on with it tonight, she has been asleep in the car for the last hour and a half whilst I sort horse didn't hear any moaning.

Hi got her from Pollycinders through Breeders Online based Nr J26 M5. Last dogs were both 15 and we had settled into a routine. I live on my own so supervising a puppy is full on. She has to go in her crate when I need downtime to shower etc and at the moment she is not best pleased but she does eventually settle for a bit. I know things will improve but I don't do "cabin fever" very well, to used to my independence so longing to be able to take her out. Going to take her for a "carry walk" this morning so she gets to see the sights and this afternoon she will be in the car whilst I sort the horse. Stll trying for pics a friend is comming round this evening so perhaps with two of us we should get some!
