Good afternoon everyone, I am so happy to have found this site. I’m hoping for some encouragement and possible advice. My cockapoo was diagnosed with a heart murmur. He will be 15 on Monday and is having chest x-rays Tuesday. Our regular vet moved and it was a fill-in who did not give me much to go on. He is such a special dog as I know everyone’s is. My husband died over 12 years ago and he has been my young daughter’s and my faithful companion through our darkest days. I appreciate any advice or information that is shared, thank you.

Hello Lweezy one of my previous dogs was diagnosed with a heart murmur aged 12. She was prescribed medication to help, an ACE inhibitor and she lived to be 17 . I hope things went well at the vets

Make sure you get a good new Vet. My dog was diagnosed with a heart murmur about 6 years ago. It seems like it is somewhat common in ****-A-Poo's. I would get him checked out on a regular basis to monitor him. At some point in time, they may put him on Petmedin or something similar depending on what is causing the murmur, and a Diuretic. Or, he may never need it. We had chest xrays and a blood panel was done and medication for our dog started when he first started coughing. At that point, he was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. My best advice is Monitor Monitor Monitor!
