I would welcome some advice re where to find a cockapo puppy. I have looked at breeders online and am finding it all a minefield. I see that there are some bigger breeders like Jandaz, Anzil and Jukee Doodles. Does anyone have experience of buying from these bigger breeders? If so was it a good experience and how have your puppies turned out?

Izzy is a JD pup, couldn't recommend them highly enough :) Jandaz and Anzil pups are on here too, and everyone who has their pups speak highly of them, Best advice is to visit if you can, check out JoJo's blog www.mydogslife.co.uk

Very personal choice

Hi

We are very happy with our breeder, Jukee Doodles. They answered all our questions, showed us all the mums and the two dads as well as their own cockapoos. We were able to visit our puppy and they held her until we were ready (at 11 weeks)

What I would say though, is that you really need to pick the breeder that is right for you. Visit a few and see which one "feels" the right one for you. Make sure you can see the parents and that they can answer all your questions. The main thing I would say is don't make a snap decision - it's worth extra mileage on your car to find the right breeder.

JD was right for us and we'd certainly recommend them but also know that there a lot of other owners on the forum who would recommend their breeder just as strongly. Good luck with your search.

My pup wasn't from JD (found them too late) but from everything I have learned about them I wouldn't hesitate getting a pup from them

Hello Joanie, just to say that I got a Jandaz puppy only five days ago and he is wonderful. He was already fully vaccinated when I got him and I was able to begin socialisation right away. My vet checked him over and pronounced him to be very healthy. He is very confident and not scared of anything so I can only assume that Janice did a good job with him before I got him. Hope this helps. x

Hi Joanie

I have not experienced buying a puppy from any of the breeders you mentioned, however as Ali has mentioned I do have a Puppy Buying Guide which may point you in the right direction.

Buying a puppy is a very personally experience, some owners like home reared pups. some are looking for a certain colour or size, it really is a matter of choice ... I hope my guide helps you xxx

Let us know how you get on .. and most of all enjoy your puppy buying experience :)

Also it may be worth while asking the same question on a few different forums to get a range of customers feedback ...

I hope the guide was useful .. my personal advise would be to enjoy your search, chat to your chosen breeder... they will become your friend.. remember a good breeder (either large or small) will want the very best home for their puppy .. buying a puppy is a two way relationship :)

I wish I could help you more ... xxx

It is a bit of a minefield out there when puppy searching. I saw this in an online ad recently...

***do not buy if the dad is not the poodle, as they do not inherit the non shedding coat*** ****do not buy if the mum is a show cocker as they can be nasty****** The breeder was selling Toy x Working for £1200 :eek::eek:

Hi,

Lola is a JD pup and we went there on the reccommendation of our friends who have a JD pup and we saw her grow up and she is my labrador's best friend. We made a visit and decided that we wanted one too! All the summer pups were absolutely gorgeous and both Stephen and Julia are devoted to their dogs and puppies choosing their mums and dads carefully for health and temperament which was important to us. Good luck with your search.
