Am new to this and also a new Cockerpoo owner!!

We got Millie in November - she is 18 months old, blue roan and very loved! I have already found the forums etc very useful - it seems any problem we have there is someone else with the same one! She has so far been really good - although have been informed today by my neighbour that she has whining and barking when we are out - so any advice about that would be greatly appreciated!!! Looking forward to meeting fellow cockerpoo owners!! xx

Hi Jo and welcome to the forum. We ended up buying a crate for Beau who is 11 months old a couple of months ago as she had started to "eat" the door frame and we were worried she could do herself some damage! Since she has had the crate she has started to feel more secure. We have put a jumper in with her that smells of one of us and also a kong filled with all her favourite treats. We also cover the top of the crate with a blanket. I saw our neighbour recently and he said to start with she sounded like the Hound of the Baskervilles (he has never complained so we didn't realise how noisy she was) but said she has been quiet since having the crate with treats etc. I think she feels more secure in an enclosed space. We previously had a Cavvie who had the run of the kitchen/diner and was very quiet so didn't think we needed a crate but Beau is very different to Daisy (Cavvie). Good luck and look forward to seeing photos of Millie :)

Hi & welcome!

Sorry to hear she is whining, how long is she left for when you're out? & where is she left? Sorry to hear you're having problems :( It could be seperation anxiety, if it is there was a brilliant 'It's me or the dog' episode with Victoria Stilwell with a black dog with reallt bad SA, so much so that it opened the fridge & ate everything! It was terrible, & she sorted that out, so if you could find the episode & see how she did it thta may help you?

Hi and welcome.

Good advice above. Make sure she is well exercised before leaving her so he is more likely just to settle and sleep and leave her a kong or high value chew that you only give when leaving her so she looks forward to it. Hopefully she will then chew for a while then just go for a sleep.
