Hi, I just bought a cockapoo puppy last week...she is 14-15 weeks old and her nae is Lola. But she only answers to Lala lol. I decided to join this forum because I realize that cockapoo's a re a special type of dog. And the rules for other dogs do not apply to this breed...AT ALL.

Shamira! :)

We would love some pics..
Hi & welcome! :)

Please tell us some more about your pup :) What cross is she? & i'd love to see some pictures!
You're right cockapoos are the best ;)
Hi there and welcome! can't wait to hear more about you and lala ;)
I am not sure how the gerations work, but her grandmother was a mix between an american and a toy poodle. Her mother was a cockapoo, and her dad a full bred poodle. I "rescued" her from a shelter by my school in Syracuse NY. Her owners could not afford to take care of a litter, plus mom + dad, so sadly they arranged for the pups to have new homes. :(

Here's a link to her first time in the snow.... she was shivering so we could only stay out for a few minutes lol

Hi, its lovely you rescued Lala from the shelter.
Generation wise I guess she is an F3b.......................
Isn't Lola a F2b?
Grandmother F1 - cocker x poodle
Mother F2 - cockapoo x cockapoo (assuming she wasn't bred back)
Lola F2b - Cockapoo x poodle
Actually having re-read this again I'm not sure anymore as the wording isn't that clear. I'm assuming Lola's Mum is an F2 because 'Grandma' was the F1? Therefore she would be an F3b....no? If the word should be 'grandparents' than Lola's Mum would be an F1 and she would then be an f2b. Anyone confused yet...lol
Well the way I read it is
Grand mother is f1 Toy poodle x american cocker, that makes mum an f2 who was bred back to a poodle producing the nest gen (3) making lola an F3b
It is very confusing.
It's as Ali says - F2B - as you need to breed F2 cockapoo x F2 cockapoo to get F3. F2 cockapoo x poodle = F2B. My breeder got confused with this as she thinks her F1 cockapoo's 3rd litter will be F3 but it's not based on the number of generations but on the type of cockapoo that's used in the mix. Biscuit was from her F1 cockapoo's second litter and she advertised them as F2's but I told her they were F1B's! It's does seem confusing but is clear once you get your head around it!
If mum happens to be an F1B, then Lola will be an F1B. Forgot to say how cute she is!

Your breeder sounds more confused than me!!!:D So she is counting litters produced as First litter F1, so on and so on? Hmmm I know its not that.

So the generations aren't counted the same as I would usually think of them, as in,

1. Grandmother
2.Mother
3.Daughter, being three generations?

I think I have confuddled Friday brain :)
I think this is what we call Fridayitus :)

I have no idea what generation she is but she's well cute!
If we assume that the mother is an F2, she was then back-crossed with a poodle so the generation number stays the same and has a 'b' added for back-bred. It is only if the mother was bred with another F2 cockapoo that the daughter would become an F3. You have to breed two generations of the same number - F2 x F2 - to be able to move on to the next generation. Hope that makes sense! JoJo explains this somewhere on her blog.
