Hello Everyone,

Just thought I'd stop by and introduce myself.

I pick up my chocolate cockapoo puppy Dudley on 5th February. He will be just over 8 weeks old. Very excited but a little bit nervous at the same time.

I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for all you experts when he finally comes home (seems forever away at the moment!).

Thanks for your welcome messages :)

I'm new to this forum malarky so lets see if I can post a picture of Dudley.

I got him from a hobby breeder not far from me, but I'd done quite a lot of research beforehand and made sure that the parents were health tested and that he was being raised in a suitable environment. Having read so many horror stories about bad breeders I have to say I can't fault the one that I've chose....they're a really super family and keen to keep in touch afterwards which is nice.

Only 9 days to go.....exciting!

Hi, we got our big boy 2 weeks ago and he is lovely. We've had a couple of issues with him and my daughter as she was being too hands on but our dog trainer gave us some fab tips and he is responding really well. It's all about taking it slow (which my daughter doesn't get) great name . Can't wait to see your pics xx

Well D-Day (Dudley Day!) is finally here, although not picking him up until this evening as already had plans for today that I could wriggle out of. I've heard it might be better to bring him home in the evening anyway as he might be more tired and therefore quicker to settle. Probably wishful thinking though lol!

I went for dinner with friends last night and they'd bought me a card and some presents for Dudley....a puppy shower rather than a baby shower. I think they're all more excited than me!

Anyway I guess I'll be having lots of questions for you all, and I look forward to hearing all your views.

Wow you're right about being busy! I don't think I've ever had so many visitors in such a short space of time!

Dudley is settling in a treat. Overnight he's been in the kitchen in a puppy playpen and he's settling more quickly each night. Last night I only heard him once after the initial complaints which was super.

Toilet training is a bit hit and miss, particularly with the wee's but he's just a baby so guess he doesn't have much control yet....he's managing to get the newspaper 75% of the time though which I guess isn't bad for 5 days in.

Today we took a walk down the road to watch the traffic (well I walked....he got carried, the lucky pup!), and had a friend with a yelling baby visit....he was an absolute angel and just flopped at my feet and ignored the screaming.

He has already learned to sit for a treat or a toy as well.

I've been avidly reading my puppy books but I'm sure I'll have questions soon. Especially with regards to toilet training.....he seems to know when I'm about to take him outside and goes on his pad instead....he must be a mind reader!

Anyway thanks all for your comments. I'll try and download some photos off my phone when I get a moment.

Sarah :)
