Hi,

My name is Pip and I live in Leeds with my husband Drew and 2 cats - Sky and Star. We're picking up our new cockapoo girl in a weeks time and I was hoping that I could get some advice. Pretty please?

Mainly I was wondering about grooming - which brushes people have found to be good, and thoughts about crate training.

This will be our first dog so I'm very excited and want to give our girl the best start we can! :D

Thank you,
Pip

you can start out with a slicker brush at first for when she is a pup and get her used to the brushing, slicker and a corse comb works well.

Thank you! I don't know why I didn't think to ask the breeder! I've been writing up a list of things to get and do before the puppy comes home. We're going to choose one of the litter tomorrow and I am so excited!

Dont mean to bore people but have you seen the Northern Meet thread.... people are meeting with their cockapoo's on Aug 14th 1pm at Roundhay Park... I think there are a few pups coming, it would be great for us all to meet a range of different coloured, different sized and coated cockapoos.... the more the merrier and great socialising fot ickle babies x
Oh and good luck choosing... what choice do you have ? x

We have a Slicker Brush and a comb. The deal is Millie eats the Slicker Brush whilst I comb her  If I try to use the Slicker Brush she still tries to eat it!

I've got a list of names but I really want to see what her character is like. We have first choice of two black pups - I have no idea how we are going to choose. I'll post pictures as soon as possible as I sooooo want to show off!

Thanks for the advice on the brushes, I know that our 2 cats run from the slicker but love their furminator.

Would it be alright to bring her to the meet if we carry her? She'll only have had her first injection I'd love to meet other owners and other cockapoos.

A black girl cockapoo... a real beauty ... I know I will love her already.

Black is one of my favourites .. hence why I got Oakley our black male cockapoo first.

I love black dogs .... he never looks dirty and his coat is so shiny xx

Hello and welcome. You must be so excited, its so much fun going to pick your puppy.I always use a soft slicker brush when theyre pups, its not that they really need grooming at that age but its essential that they get used to being brushed right from the start.Make grooming fun with a little treat afterwards for being good, thats what ive always done and all my girls are great on the grooming table apart from pyper who i got at a year old,she hates being brushed so im guessing she isnt too used to it.Cant wait to see pics of your puppy xxx

As promised this is a picture of our Milly (name subject to change!).

She's grown a lot since we last saw her and thought my shoe laces were the best things ever! I can't wait to bring her home. We had to choose between 2 which was very difficult, but Milly did the deciding on the end when she climbed onto my lap. :D

She's lovely Pip! You must be so excited. We're a lovely bunch on here, as said before, so feel free to ask any questions. I can't answer many as I'm only just getting a pup myself, but many on here can, and will :)
