I'm soooooooo upset!!! I have NO CLUE how it got there. Now, I'm not the greatest at brushing her, but I did brush her a week ago and she was fine!! I was looking at her walking around today and noticed that her tail looked funny, so I had her come over, and she has a mat the size of a baseball on the TOP of her tail.

I have the spray...and it works some, but I can't imagine making her sit through session after session of spraying, cutting, brushing, tugging long enough to get it out. BUT, I also don't want the groomer to totally cut it off either!!!

Sniff sniff...her beautiful tail!!!

I'm a bad mom...

Someone please give me hope this can be fixed!!

take time a little at a time and just work at it....Lady had to be scalped from her large mat on her chest....I am sure Bella will be a good girl for you and let you work on it...what spray do you have?

I can't remember. It was the only one that they had at the pet store. It seems to work pretty well, but it doesn't spray very well. Instead of a mist, it comes out in more of a stream...so I have to be precise with it!

I'll have to work on it little by little this weekend....

I must admit we get a few little matts but I can normal just comb or brush them out quite easily. I use a fab conditioner or creme rinse as they call it by Pet Head.. and I have been recommended it to anyone I know wilth a full coat dog... my dogs are so silky soft, even my kids commented on the softness of the dogs after I first used it, and if they noticed then it must be good, you know what kids are like... no I never noticed you had your hair colour changed mum, no I never noticed the car blew up ... I never noticed we moved house .. you get my drift.. kids only care about there needs, computers, their friends coming to play and when can we go to pizza hut or ice skating!!! Sorry not a kid forum a cockapoo forum .. so yes Pet Head Furtastic Crème Rinse for Curly / Long Coats... its great :)

Good ideas! I have a de-mat comb (whatever that's called) and haven't used it yet. I figure I'll soak it with the detangle spray and then work at it little by little.

It's about halfway down her tail, just off the top of it on the right hand side if she's facing me. I still have no idea why in the world this happened on the top of her tail!!!?

lots of detangling time fro Paula and Bella then .. nice cuddles whilst you are doing it.. or is she a wiggle bottom..

Oakley hates me fussing him and wiggles all the time .. I am exhausted after grooming , ear cleaning or brushing him out .. its a battle of wills .. but JoJo takes her time and wins the long game ... ha ha ha

Honey however just laps up the quality time... she loves all the hands on picking and pruning... she is so calm and easy ...

It all quality time though and jobs that need to be done, I love it xx

Oh bless! It wouldn't surprise me if she had got something like a burr caught on her whilst out for a walk. There are loads of the little blighters about at the moment and with a moving Cockapoo coat matts seem to form instantly around them! Hope you are successful this weekend .......bit by bit!

JoJo....YES! Oakley sounds just like Bella! She loves the cuddles, but doesn't love the grooming part! Last time I had a bag of treats near me where she could see them and I gave her one every so often, especically after a particularly difficult session!!

I suspect this is going to be a weekend long project!! :)

Is Bella a black beauty?

Oakley has a black coat.. it’s all in the coat colour ... spoilt with cuddles but not cooperative with their owners grooming them .. the treats are a great plan.. make sure get your own treats in too, chocolates, cake, wine, lots of all :)

Happy Grooming Paula....

Hmm, that's my Bella! Loves cuddles but when it comes to grooming it's hard work. She absolutely hates her tail being brushed. I thought I'd just about got on top of her matts but the groomer found two, one on her side and another at the top of her tail!

She's now scalped :(

Keep at them, finding them is half the battle!

JoJo- Bella is actually chocolate brown. It's hard to get good pictures of her color.
Elizabeth- oh no!! Fortunately we've avoided the scalping so far...but she only just over a year old! Many more grooms to go!

As an update, I spent some time tonight working on it. I got it loosened quite a bit and it's backed away from her tail, but there's still a lot more to go. I have one of those dematting brushes and it seems to have helped but im not sue I'm doing it right. Can anyone help? Maybe know of a good YouTube video that describes it?

Thanks so much for your support! I know Bella appreciates having a mom that knows (or pretends to know) what she's doing!!!
