Hi fellow cockapoo lovers.

My normal friends are getting a bit fed up with me talking about my new little pup Mia, so I've come here to find others that share my love of all things cockapoo. I look forward to sharing our experiences.

Here's how it all started...

I've wanted a dog of my own all of my live but waited until I could give one a great home and lots of time. All this can true in Feb this year (2011), so I immediately started the hunt for my little Mia. We loved her from the first moment we saw her. She chose us really, as she made a bee line for us and refused to let any of the other pups get a look in. We were hooked from day one. She came home at 8 weeks old and bonded with me immediately. She has slept downstairs in the utility room since day one. We had a few tears on the 3rd and 4th night but it's been fine since then. Toilet training is going well but there are still mistakes. She wees in doors when she's excited but that's to be expected. We started puppy obedience classes when she was 11 weeks old and she can now sit, lie down, roll over, she walks relatively nicely on the lead (work in progress). Her recalls are also very good. We let her off the lead on the very first walk and she's never gone far. She’s very good with other dogs but I do pick her up if they are boisterous , because she tends to get squashed/trodden on and squeals. Car journeys were funny at first, as she made a very strange winning noise resembling a human laugh. We are really enjoying having her. I’ll update you on the story so far when she’s a bit older.

Hi Donna,

When are you getting your little one? Any name ideas yet? Are you getting a boy or girl? We called her Mia after her real mum. It's a lovely name but has been shortened into Mi Mi of course.

This is fun talking to other puppy mums.

Hi Vicky,

Were the tears in the first week from you or from Mia? Car journeys always seem to be a problem to begin with , but they soon settle down. Look forward to seeing pictures of little Mia!

Hello Bicky and Mia! Thx for the story. It's lovely hearing your background. My friend lives on Church Road in Hertford so we are often there. They really don't like dogs though (we're planning on changing that when we get our pup in August, also from Jukee Doodles - how can anyone not like a cockapoo pup?!). You've definitely found the right place to talk cockapoos all day long. We'll never get bored!!!

Looking forward to the piccies!!!

Just Mia. I did cry when we picked her up though cos I was so overwhelmed. She's really good in the car now. She settles in her bed on the passenger seat. I'm going to try and settle her in the boot so but I'm sure she wont like it.

If she doesn't you could get a harness and a clip for the seatbelt to make her a little more secure - she might be okay ont the back seat then.

Will do if they ever let us take our pup to their house. Will have to work on that as if they don't then we won't go often as we don't want to leave it (even as a dog) at home for long. Hopefully they'll fall in love like all of us!
