Oreo is nearly 9 months old and in the last couple of days has changed her usual habits on her walks in the park. She always has a bark whenever she sees other dogs, then has a sniff to say hello and walks off with her tail in the air and a cocky walk! But she's started being a bit submissive when she normally sniffs. She hasn't been spooked by any other dogs but is this a sign that she might be coming into season?
We are planning of having her neutered after her first one as our last dog drove us mad with phantom pregnancies, she adopted our youngest as her baby and used to wash our feet! I don't want to put Oreo through that.

It could well be. Is she widdling more than usual too?
Mine were spayed before their first season, although lots of people prefer to let them have their first season.
There have been quite a few 'poos on here that have suffered from phantom pregnancies.

Peanut, waiting is a personal choice. In my eyes by waiting, you allow the dogs organs, bones etc to develop fully with the full complement of hormonal help. As for phantom pregnancy, my vet told me it's absolutely nothing to do with whether they are spayed or not. Not sure she is right on that, but there you go. My Phoebe is 1 on the 4/11 and is still not spayed. Thinking I might leave it a bit longer yet. Personally I have a problem with spaying when they are very young. My gut tells me it's wrong........am getting more and more into natural ways be it feeding or health. The less interference from the medical world the better.......and that is whether you are dog or human. :)
