hi my name is jean i have a cockapoo name of lucy she is a real cutie never chewed any thing in house but likes to nip your hands and feet also not very good at coming back when she gets out of the front door tried puppy training but she was not very good at learning i have just read some of the posts about putting her in kitchen and closing door on her for 5 minutes i will give that a go when she starts biting

lol first off its not that she wasnt good at leaning its that you havent found the right way to train her so that she will respond. its the owners that get trained at puppy traing the dogs just pick up some tricks.
for the front door first off teach her to stay when the door is open, pop a lead on her so you are in controle. set up the situateion so you are in controle if she doesnt do it they way you want, if you put a long lead on her then you only have to stan on the lead to get her back.

we tried training her but at puppy training they seemed to concertrate on drop and fetch which she does when she was told to stay as soon as you moved she came to you i have done better now at home but she is good at some things and not at others i am sure we will get there

Hi, I found the Gwen Bailey, the Perfect Puppy book good as it has lots of training ideas. I take Dexter to a training group and they seem to teach the same as the book says. Dexter does anything for chicken though.

The best advice we had to get pixel good at coming back is to let her off early. This was scary and we had a few hairy moments and we were pretty brave but now she is generally very good at coming back apart from when shes on one.
We took her in the middle of a field where no one else was and let her off. She stayed close to us as she was still at that stage of wanting to be near us. It sounds funny but when she did go too far away we hid behind trees etc which scared her into thinking she d lost us and meant she stayed near us. I would definately say do this sooner rather than later as when they get older they are much more confident and start going further and further away. As we are now experiencing with pixel.
If that sounds too scary start with long lead training which we have gone back to as pixel is trying it on now she s six months. It took us a while but find a treat she really likes and will come back for over any distraction sausages work for us. Decide on your command again we tried a few out before finding the right one. Use that one all the time and only for when you want her to come to you. Say the command and if she comes make her sit and give her the treat. Don t let her go until you say a off you go command. If she doesn t come use the lead to pull her in and make her sit give her lots of praise and give her a treat. Then repeat repeat repeat! Its hard work but worth it in the end.
With the biting we were going mad with frustration at one stage but she got better over time. Saying ah and witdrawing our hand worked well. Make sure you have loads of other toys she can chew bones work well for pixek. Replace what she is chewing with the toy. We did find shutting her away or putting her in her cage whilst she calmed down worked very well.

i will try anything to learn lucy she is a character loves to play she loves her walks my husband takes her out most times comes back for him but when i am with them she will not come back wants to run of and play she is a little devil lol
