Bonnie is a very good little puppy really but she is very bad at jumping up at people when they come in through the front door at home and also when she meets people in the park. I never had this with Dexter, any tips?

Buddys a jumper ! when people come to the house i tell them to turn their back on him till he carms down and then get them to say sit then make a fuss of him it seems to work.

The standing on the lead when out works as well.

Lolly is the same when people come into the house. We have a little mat that we put in the corner of the hall and when the doorbell goes (after Lolly has barked and jumped up at the window to see who it is!!) we ask her sit on the mat. We keep a pot of treats by the door and tell Lolly to stay while we open the door. She is then kept distracted and rewarded with treats while our guests come in (we ask them to ignore Lolly when they walk in). We then tell her when she can go and say hello. I think this keeps her a little calmer and at least lets our guests walk in the door before they get pounced on!

If I know we are expecting guests (especially a whole family with young children) I will put Lolly on her lead and let her greet them so I can stop her jumping up. She only tries to jump initially and once she has met them she calms right down and goes back to being a laid back couch potato.

Love that idea about the mat by the door and treats for when she is a good girl. Will be stealing that idea! How did you train her to sit on the mat - teach sit first then lead her to the dorr when someone knocks and use sit on the mat?
Any tips apprecaited :)

Hattie was fine untill she got to about 5 months the she developed a 'spring' which she uses on every possible occasion. I try to instill the all four paws on the ground rule but not doing too well at the moment. Hope she grows out of it I refuse to stress out about it we will get it sorted.

I also have a mat for Stela. Just bring ypour dog to the mat show her to sit there and treat. She wil get it real fast. Also, don't alow her to jump on you-I know it's hard, I don't mind Stela jumping on me-but I have to pretend that I do;, but I do when she jumps on other people; so consistency is the key. I also have her on a lead when a bunch of people come and I even thether her so that I can keep track of where she is when we have lots of guests. Last weekend she was great with seven people comming over :) I had bought her a new chew and she loved it and was very involved in
chewing which made me really happy.
