Keep thinking about a second... Ollie is three and 4mths and am sure would love a companion...
would love to hear how much more work it is/isnt....

Ollies worst habit is standing on his rear legs and cruising the worktops with his tongue trying to get crumbs etc.... couldnt cope with two doing this so thinking about a toy cross..... but hardly anyone does these....

My Izzie is a miniature cross & can't reach the work tops, but I think it's more about training, Izzie begs for food all the time, but our new pup Poppy just sleeps & shows no interest as we haven't started it off with her & don't intend to.
We've only had Poppy home for 5 days, so can't fully give you advice yet, but we thought Izzie would love a play mate & they both seem to be getting on quite well now, so I was very excited about getting my second pup :D So I know how you feel, go for it ;)

Nikki .. I recommend having two .. I honestly think two dogs is easier than 1 .. but hey I am cockapoo crazy ..

Some lovely toy crossed on here.. Obi, Poppy, Miley, Betty, Betty Boo, Maisie, and Dylan but I think Dylan is on the larger side of the toy mix..

I have seen ads for toy mixes .....

I wont tell your hubby the secret .. yes let him come home to a new puppy :) surprise xxx

Yay - do it. Getting Remy was the best thing I could have done. I find it is so much easier having a puppy with an older dog to play with them, teach bit inhibition etc. and it has also given Flo another dimension to her life and she can be 'doggy' with Rem instead of only having a human family. Watching the communication and play between them is such a pleasure.

3-4 years old is a good time to introduce another as Ollie is now fully mature but still young enough to want to play with a puppy.

Just because you have one dog that 'counter surfs' doesn't mean the other will :D. Flo and Remy are like chalk and cheese in temperament and behaviour.

Nikki I found introducing Basil a breeze compared to having Rufus as a pup. The older one does all of the entertaining for you and the pup learns the basic commands so quickly because they follow the older one. Walks are more fun as the dogs chase each other and seeing my two snuggle together brings joy to my heart. :love-eyes:
It's never all good news .... double the cost for feeding, insurance and vets fees .......and grooming fees unless you do a handy local day grooming course and learn how to do it yourself! ;)
Without a doubt the pros outweigh the cons. :)
I'm amazed by the range of sizes within both the miniature and toy crosses. Try and check out the sizes of the parents for the best guide as there are some pretty small miniature Cockapoos on the forum and some rather big toys!
Keep us posted. :)

Obi is a miniature cross but he is smaller because he's also an American cross ;)

Even though Vincent is still a pup I do think that once he's around 2 another would be lovely!
Just remember that however nice it is there is still a huge amount of additional work to do with another pup. Health, insurance, even walking will be different!

I'm interested what others have to say about getting a second. As some of you may have noticed , I was possibly interested in rehoming Ceris'Pip
because of her allergys but this has not worked out for a variety of reasons..
Are there any distinct right or wrong times to introduce a sceond??

We were told by our breeder to wait until Izzie was about 1 to introduce a second, so that's what we did, a month after Izzie's birthday Poppy came home :) Mandy's Flo was 2, so not sure what the best age is, that's just what we were advised.

There is no set amount of time ... when you are ready I would say and Betty are ready, and you know Betty more than anyone ...

Introducing a new puppy just depends on the dog you currently have and you as an owner ... if you and Betty are ready go for it ...

I would not recommend having two puppies from the same litter but thats about it :)

I would also recommend having two ... it's not double the work as you are dog walking etc already. Actually walks are more fun. It is more work while no. 2 is still a puppy as you are training again, but it's all happy work!

Maisie is an American mini poodle cross and is only 12 inches tall and weighs 5.5kg ... people are always surprised she is so small. There are toy crosses on here who are larger. Not all dogs will be inclined to surf the worktops anyway.

I thought about getting a second for a long time on and off ... so glad we went for it! :)

Have also started to think about getting another cockapoo.

Will probably start looking in the new year for one.
Like you ideally I want a toy cross as Darla is a Working Cocker and a Toy cross so don't want to get another one and it be bigger than Darla! But hardly anyone crosses with toys, it's always minitures.
