I have Janet (Flounder1), Lolly and the kids coming to stay for a few days. We are interested to see how our dogs will settle down over a longer period of time. We're leaving the husbands at home as they can get a bit stressed by the level and intensity of their play.

I wondering on the sleeping arrangements. Not the humans, we're all sorted :D But Lolly usuallly sleeps in Janets room and Millie usually sleeps outside my bedroom door, until the early hours until she asks to come in.

Do we stick with our usual routine or let the dogs sleep together? Will they get anxious we have one in a bedroom and other in effect outside. Will they settle down and sleep or want to continue their lively play in the night time. Shall I move Millie into my bedroom so they are seperated by two doors, but I think Millie may sleep on my bed and get used to it.

Oh a thousands variables and I don't know which one to choose.

Hope this wet weather improves we want to go out and about lots. :D

Hi Julie .. how exciting .. think I need come along with Picnic and Honey lol ... sound like a great time.

I think I would go with the flow so to speak, go for the normal routine, as they are used to this, but in the excitement it may not work :) then plan B could either be sleeping together of very separate in your bedrooms ... it really depends on the dog.

My girls sleep together at home, but when we stay at my parents, they will either sleep with me or settle down in the lounge, but then when we come back home they just go back to the routine at home.

Please give us updates of all the fun :) .. oh and loads of pics needed ...

I would try them together and then separate if it doesn't work after one night. Weather is dire isn't it. Not too bad yesterday but got very soaked today. Obi enjoying the New Forest lots though!

Yeh, I'd just suck it and see, do what you want to do but expect to change your plans. Before we got Mable we stayed at friends and planned to leave Wilf just to sleep with their choc cockapoo Missy even though they got on fine, Wilf cried ( big baby) so we let him in with us. I think he would have settled if we'd left it a while but did nt want to upset Missy and her usual routine, but then he cried when we left him with Mable on her first night, she was fine x x

I'm sure Lolly will be happy to sleep wherever Millie is .................... so both dogs in your room I think :D ;)

When we stayed over with a friend who has a dog, I brought Lolly into my bedroom as usual and she cried and paced for about 10 minutes (very put out to be separated from her friend) before finally settling down to sleep. The difference then though was that Stanley is a bit like a grumpy old man and the friendship is most definitely one sided with Lolly doing more of the loving so he wasn't at all worried to get some peace away from her for the night!!! Millie may have more to say on the matter!!! We'll have to wait and see.

My dogs are crated at home but on holiday they seem happy just to sleep nearer us without crates. When we get back, they both return to their crates. I am always anxious that they return to normal routines as they are good habits. I think you will be fine - like kids having sleepovers - they don't behave like that all the time (thank goodness!).

Well we've had a fab walk on the beach, both dogs did there usual madness playing.
Back in the house, both dogs are surprisingly quite calm, quietly playing, taking the same toy but waiting for the other to finish. Neither has slept since the walk and I know Millie would have done, so they may get scratchy later on.

We've just fed them and Millie ate Lolly's Barking Head Kibble and Lolly ate Millie's Natural Instinct  Oh well, at least they've both eaten :)

Well, we kept them in seperate rooms at bedtime. Lolly with Janet and Millie with me. Janet said Lolly did make a fuss a couple of times, but nothing too bad and Millie was a little unsettled with me, barking a couple of times. She finally came and slept on my bed at some unearthly hour.

They swapped over breakfasts again :( and spent the day with Obi and Clare (on a different thread, The Three Muskateers)

We tried to keep them to their own meals tonight, which wasn't easy as Lolly wanted to eat both and Millie wanted Lolly's. But with a bit of hand feeding  Millie ate her own.

They've finally had a long sleep and don't seem as intense with each other as they normally are. Tonight we thought we'd let them sleep together if they want. We'll leave our bedroom doors open so they can choose. I really hope we don't have chaos, but as the rest of the two days hasn't be chaotic then things should be ok :)
