Hi, I'm a new cockapoo puppy owner. :) Any suggestions on training. I've had him for 3 weeks. After 3 days he knew the command "go potty" but still doesn't have the idea to want to go outside to do it????? Also the biting??????

he is still a baby give him time. work out when he needs to pee even mark down the times he goes so you are prepared. the main times he will need out will be after a sleep, after eating/drinking and after playing. it will also be easier once you can get him out walking.

yelp loud and stop playing if he bites. if he is a lunger and biting when playing keep a lead on him so you can controle him without touching him.

the important thing for both is to be consistant.

tell us more about your little guy, name, colour, what kind of cockapoo etc also we love photos.

Take him outside every hour to encourage toileting outside. If he does go outside, praise and name it 'go potty' so he will learn over time. If he has an accident in the house, just clear it up, don't tell him off, he's too young to have control. Its not until they are 16 weeks that they have control over their bladder (so my trainer told me).

Are you going to book in puppy training classes - try and look out for one that reward trains and uses the clicker training method.

Puppies are bitey, they can't help it. Keep a soft toy to hand and give him that if he starts to bite. I do believe they are feeling with their mouth, just like human babies, but with a lot sharper teeth ! He will grow out of it once the adult teeth come in. Do try to discourage biting you as it will become a habit.

I think Kendal covered most of it!
With the going outside, she's right you kind of have to anticipate it at first & put your pup outside when you think he will need to go... If he does have an accident inside still put him outside & tell him wee wee or whatever command you want to teach, just so that he knows that's where he should do it :)

With the biting, if the yelping doesn't work, try turning your back & ignorig (but obviously the teeth hurt!) so if that stil doesn't work find a place where you can put him alone for punishment so that he knows he has been naughty...
We use the kitchen, so now if we say 'Izzie do you want to go in the kitchen?' She generally kows what we mean & stops ;) But it does take time! So persevere :)

Good luck! & yes colour, name, type of corss & pictures please?! :)
