Just got my new baby boy cockapoo, his name is Benji, very beautiful and quite a handful at the moment. He won't let me leave his side and sleeping in my own bed is a distant memory. He is nearly 10 weeks old, a creamy apricot colour, very curly at the moment. His mother and father are both cockapoos, so I think that makes him an f2 (not sure). He doesn't just cry when I leave him, the whole street mus tbe able to hear him, very loud and screetching. Its impossible to let him cry, he just won't stop. Any suggestions please. I also have some doubts as to whether I'm feeding him enough, he has 1/2 Weetabix in the morning with milk which he loves. I
feed him again in the evening, I give him 4 ounces of Science Plan. again with milk, the breeder was doing this so I carried on. Is 4 ounces enough?
Thanks for any help.

Hi and welcome!!! Your puppy sounds gorgeous!!!
He is indeed an F2. I would recommend not feeding him milk at all, at 10 weeks he doesn't need it, he needs three small meals a day of good quality puppy food. The bag will have recommended amounts for a puppy his size. 4oz isn't enough for him and may be why he is crying so much. Get him onto proper puppy food and the proper amounts and you will probablt find him more settled.
Good luck.

Hi and welcome!

I would agree with karen. He needs to have three meals per day of puppy food. I am sure he will settle very soon :). We look forward to seeing some photos and hearing about how you are getting on. :)

Ah I remember those puppy days. You have to be strong when leaving him especially at night. The crate is the best idea and you can put one of your t shirts in with his blanket that way he can smell you. but you have to leave him to cry I'm afraid horrible tho it is. My dog still follows me everywhere but won't cry if left.
The NI food is the best there is I think, have a look at their website as he does sound hungry
Good luck

ok forst off cut out the milk unless its goats milk, dogs are lactos intolrant and this can lead to a dodgy tummy.

sience plan is not one of the best foods and for his age he should real be on 3 meals a day.

star leaving him on his own during the day. slowly increasing the time, give him a stuffed kong with cream cheese, peanut butter etc

get him tiered before bed, no chill out time knacker him, play ball qa weebit of tug(you must always win) do a little training.

when getting up to let him out for the toilet dont talk to him, just out pee and back to bed. are you using a crate or just leaving him in a room?

Thank you for your replies. I have tried most things, as soon as I move he loses interest in
what he is doing and starts crying. He just doesn't like to be on his own. I am going to
increase his food and leave out the milk, although his tummy seems to be fine, and look into NI.

goats milk is fine but not cows milk.

its going to be a case of tough love. put up a baby gate if need be and start off by leaving him in the hall as you wash the dishes in the kitchen etc he can still se you but not be atached to you. he needs to learn to amuse himself. he will learn its just you have acidently tqaught him never to want to leave you or be left by you.

try walking in and out of rooms so he is never sure if you are leaving to go somewhere or just wandering around.

honestly oif you leave him long enough he will get bored and find something els to do. dogs try to find you limit we as humans often crack just before they give up, and once youv cracked once they know how long they need to cry before you give in. and will keep going. you just need to be strong. try it during the day so you dont have to wory about people sleeping.
