Hello,

I am new here! I have been researching A LOT about buying a Cockapoo puppy and have read a few threads here about choosing a breeder. My search lead me to Capella Cockapoos and I wondered if anyone had a puppy from them?

Many thanks
Kate

Hi Kate & welcome! :)

I don't actually have experience of the breeder though, sorry, hope someone can help :)
What cocker x poodle cross are you wanting? & any gender/colour preferences atm?

Good luck with your search :) x

I was hoping for a chocolate English Cocker & Miniature Poodle Mix, it seems to be a bit of a minefield finding a good breeder and I really want to get it right! There doesn't seem to be that much choice down south (I do of course have my name down at Marley Doodles :)

Hi Kate and welcome to the forum! :)

You are right it is a minefield trying to find a breeder that you are happy with but taking your time to research your breeders now will make it all the more worth while!

I considered Capella when I was first searching for a breeder and it looks like they have since started testing both parents for PRA which is positive. Apart from that I have no experience of them.

Please feel free to have a look at the club website which has advice on finding a breeder and health tests. Good luck with your search and I look forward to hearing how you get on. :)

Sounds like you have a good idea of what you're looking for then :) Do you have a preference between the working or show line cockers?
I'm sure you'll get it right :) Just keep looking around & ringing up & see who sounds genuine & reputable to you. When are you hoping to be bringing a puppy home?

I've not heard of anyone mention it, but if you start a thread called 'crystalwood cockapoos' then people who have any will come forward if there are some as they will know what the thread is about :) Good luck.

Hi Kate, I have never been to Capella but talked to them on the phone several times and was not impressed, not at all! They sell, and I emphasise they sell Cockapoos, Cavaposs and Poodles. At least these are breeds that I have seen them advertise on pets4homes. When asked about the Poodles, they said that the parents were not available to be seen as these were not Capella puppies, but someone else's that they (Capella) were selling on. Not having been there, I cannot comment on this, but I would never buy my dog from such a place. My personal choice and preference. At the end, we bought our puppy from a tiny, small and little home breeder and one thing I am sure of: she really kept the puppies inside which has resulted in a very well socialised puppy. This was important to us.

Hi cplove

You're obviously researching finding a puppy very thoughtfully. You will find lots more useful information at www.cockapooclubgb.co.uk

Have fun and enjoy your puppy search.
Julia
Thanks, Julia. We have found our puppy and she has been with us for 10 days now. We also researched JD Cockapoos and would have loved to have one of your puppies. But the waiting time was too long for us. Maybe next time :)

Oh, and thanks for the link. That's an amazing site.
