Oscar had his second jab yesterday morning, walked away with a clean bill of health. Got home about 11.30 and off to work at 1. Got there to get a call from Sarah saying that she was going back to the vets with Oscar.... He was totally lethargic, glassy eyed and cried whenever she picked him up.

Luckily it was (as we hoped) a reaction to the jab. Sarah said he was quiet and sleepy for the rest of the day and Dexie was a bit put out that he wouldn't play with her!!

This morning though, he is right as rain, thankfully, and we had another dry night from him. Dexie's pleased to have her play mate back too :D

Hope nobody else has had a reaction like this with their new pup..

I've been back to my spreadsheet today and seen that Oscar's 1st jab was Eurican. Our vet then would give the 2nd Eurican at 12 weeks old but he is only 10 weeks and 2 days old today. I wonder if that is why he has had this reaction? Poor little sausage, hope he's feeling better.

We had a very scary experience when Maisy had her 2nd jab at 12 weeks - she went into anaphylatic shock and we nearly lost her.

It happened within seconds of her being injected, luckily, and she fell unconcious on the vets table.

She was given oxygen and antihistamine injections to counteract the vaccine and we had to wait in the waiting room while they whisked her off - I thought we were never going to see her again, a horrible horrible experience.

Luckily this type of reaction is very rare. Last week she had her first booster and had anithistamine injection first before the vaccine and was fine, thank goodness.

I think lots of pups feel a bit out of sorts afterwards, glad Oscar is ok now :)

We checked his record card and it does say he had Nobivac and second course due at 10 wks

oh no Julia, does this mean your spreadsheet is not correct - heaven forbid :D
