Question for NI feeders

George has been off his NI food for quite a while and is currently eating small amounts of James Wellbeloved (not impressed!). I have noticed that he has now developed a 'doggy' smell and am keen to get him back interested in his NI.I gave him a portion of it today frozen and he ate half of it. Is it ok to give frozen? He will still eat frozen lamb bones and chicken wings. Think his teeth may be an issue as not noticed any fallen out yet but noticed new teeth coming behind the old.

Luna quite often has hers partly frozen. The benefit of that is that it's more interesting for them to eat and takes longer. It hasn't done her any harm. We also give her frozen bananas etc for her teeth.

My mum feeds JWB and her dog def has a doggy smell too!!
Yes, frozen is fine. Maybe try one meal NI and one meal other barf foods to keep his interest.

sorry to sound dim but by other barf foods are we talking chicken wings and lamb ribs , is there anything else I could offer him
You can try putting raw egg, probiotic goat yoghurt or veggie 'gloop' with his NI. Also look here as there is masses of fantastic information, ideas, links and discussion for barf feeders http://www.petforums.co.uk/dog-health-nutrition/111437-raw-feeding-everything-you-need-know.html and loads of options for feeding barf in addition to NI, wings and lamb ribs.

That's a really good link Mandy. Thanks for that.
Great link .. but the heart and tripe :S .. I may be a raw feeder one day as the whole topic and idea or raw feeding really interests me but wow you raw feeding mummies need to have a tough tummy to deal with some of the raw food ... saying that I am fine with liver, bones, chicken wings ...
Thanks Mandy, just what I need - I'm planning to start diy barf soon
We gave a heart to Luna the other day. She loved it :)

was it a lambs heart and did you give it whole
Just to warn you the first time I gave Daisy heart, I gave her a whole one and I think it was a bit rich and gave her an upset tum. Since then I have given her small amounts mixed in with her mince and this seems to be fine.

Amazingly I think I have become immune to the smell of tripe! :D
i have fed both mine heart a few times now, they both had it for breakie yesterday and today Milly had the rest whilst Monty had sprats.

I get the pigs heart from Morrissons ( ( drive 18 miles to get blinking dog stuff from them- what a dedicated mummy I am :D ) and it is diced into small pieces so very easy to use.

I have also bought chicken hearts from my local chinese supermarket. These are fab- tiny hearts and again much easier to serve up especially for those of you who are still feeding puppies.

I bought 6 packs of sprats the other week on my shop trip to Morrisons to find Milly vomited them all back up and has gone off them. She loved them before- luckily Monty still loves them.
Jane...you could also try swapping minces for a bit. We are now on Rawtogo minces and although they don't have some of the ingredients that NI have, they ahve the right combo of meat, bone and offal. They also come in a big variety of flavours. Daisy loves the rabbit one and the tripe mixes and we also ahve the standard chicken/turkey etc. They are very reasonable. :)

Yes it was and yes we did. She had it as a treat and had no side effects x
