Took Millie for a lovely afternoon walk around Verulam Park. All was going rather well - again
But, after she'd been for a lovely run and play through the stream, she got all overexcited and silly. We came out near the lake with all the bird wildlife. So pre-emptying any possible disaster, I walked Millie towards the side with plenty of open grass and running space (rather than the narrow path sandwiched between the lake and the stream).
We came across two people sitting on a bench, absolutely surrounded by a menagerie of geese, ducks, swans, pigeons etc (at least 80-100 birds) and photographers
It was obviously a photoshoot of some sort
hoto:. Luckily, I saw it before Millie and promptly put her on the lead and walked past :undwech:
Once a safe distance past, Millie looked at me all please and licked her lips to ask for a treat, for being so good
So I gave her a treat and let her off the lead. Immediately, she turned tail :car: and raced at full speed straight for and through the whole gaggle of birds - scattering them in all directions and causing commotion as they frantically raced back into the water
Shamefully I went and collected my dog
hno: You could feel the bad vibes
So with lead back on we walked further away. When the coast was clear I let her off the lead again (you'd think I'd learn
). Still feeling rather pleased with her walk, this time she headed straight for a little girl on a scooter, Millie all bouncy and excitable. The girl, lets out a massive scream:hurt:, cries, throws her scooter in Millie's direction and generally panics and has the screaming ab-dabs, running backwards away from Millie. I honestly thought she'd end up in the lake. Luckily, she ran to daddy, who held her reassuring her that it was a nice doggie. Millie was still intent on saying hello
Shamefully, again, I went and collected my dog.
I was glad to get back up the hill, car and home :embarrassed::embarrassed::embarrassed:
