Took Millie for a lovely afternoon walk around Verulam Park. All was going rather well - again :D

But, after she'd been for a lovely run and play through the stream, she got all overexcited and silly. We came out near the lake with all the bird wildlife. So pre-emptying any possible disaster, I walked Millie towards the side with plenty of open grass and running space (rather than the narrow path sandwiched between the lake and the stream).

We came across two people sitting on a bench, absolutely surrounded by a menagerie of geese, ducks, swans, pigeons etc (at least 80-100 birds) and photographers  It was obviously a photoshoot of some sort :photo:. Luckily, I saw it before Millie and promptly put her on the lead and walked past :undwech:

Once a safe distance past, Millie looked at me all please and licked her lips to ask for a treat, for being so good :) So I gave her a treat and let her off the lead. Immediately, she turned tail :car: and raced at full speed straight for and through the whole gaggle of birds - scattering them in all directions and causing commotion as they frantically raced back into the water :eek:

Shamefully I went and collected my dog :eek:hno: You could feel the bad vibes

So with lead back on we walked further away. When the coast was clear I let her off the lead again (you'd think I'd learn ). Still feeling rather pleased with her walk, this time she headed straight for a little girl on a scooter, Millie all bouncy and excitable. The girl, lets out a massive scream:hurt:, cries, throws her scooter in Millie's direction and generally panics and has the screaming ab-dabs, running backwards away from Millie. I honestly thought she'd end up in the lake. Luckily, she ran to daddy, who held her reassuring her that it was a nice doggie. Millie was still intent on saying hello

Shamefully, again, I went and collected my dog.

I was glad to get back up the hill, car and home :embarrassed::embarrassed::embarrassed:

Oh Millie!! She would have been on best behaviour if we'd come! Sorry we were busy.

I've been practising walking Lolly along the path between the lake and river off lead going when it is increasingly getting busier (not yet been brave enought to do so on a sunny Sunday afternoon!) Just to see how she behaves and to gain my confidence that she won't go jumping in the lake or knock a toddler in! Lolly just thinks it's her job to ensure all the birds, ducks etc are safely off the land and in the water!!!

So Millie must have just been doing the same! It's a serious job you know!!! lol

Don't worry Julie, we've all been there!

I've lost count of the times Freddy has embarrassed me when we are out, he has certainly done it more than either of my children ever did!

I think its all part of owning a crazy cockapoo!!!

I'm not too upset, its the rich tapestry of owning a lovely dog. Embarrased yes.

Funnily enough when I was walking along, before all the incidents, I was thinking what a lovely dog, full of character and nothing like a Stepford Wife in doggie version. (for those that know the film, will get my meaning).

I did think the photography lot had a serious humour bypass. And shamefully, I think the youngest over reacted, especially for a dog that showed absolutely no malice, just puppy characteristics.

She's had a bath and is now scruffy, bouncy and fun. She keeps climbing over me as I try to type on my netbook. I must get a photo of her, she looks lovely. :D

Ok, first reaction, PMSL  :undwech:

Second thought, thank god it wasn't me! Nearly went to Verulamium Park today but changed my mind at last minute.

I've thought about off lead on that path between the lake and the stream but never dared it....far too many "wibbly wobblys" around. :D

Seriously though, Millie is really well behaved but she is still a puppy and they have to left off steam some days. Those birds were obviously just too tempting. Would love to have seen that one!

PMSL? I can't even guess what this means

I'm a bit slow, it took me a while to crack the code of OH on other threads
It means 'piss myself laughing' :)
& tbh I thought the same, sorry!
I know it must have been embarrassing, but also very funny (even I would have laughed if Izzie had done that to me lol), but I can imagine the people weren't so pleased  A very eventful walk! x

My Milly is bird crazy too but she a cavapoo and not cockapoo- but loves chasing them.

That would have been a good camcorder moment Julie !!! we would have loved to have seen it on here then :D

To make you feel better here are my top embarrassing moments with Monty:

1. Paying bill at vets and he wees up reception desk

2. Strolling on beach and we are ahead- him behind, he runs up to a man and swipes the sandwich ( not a full one) out of his hand and eats it.

but the worst :
At another vet ( I use 2) which is also a shop, waiting at counter to be seen and chatting to two people with a cavalier. Without realising Monty does a poo ( think he was a bit stressed- doesn't normally poo inside!!!) and they tell me. In my flustered haste to pick it up - I also step in some and end up getting some on the front mat.

Red faced I take him outside where it is raining and he proceeds to have the squits and deposits several piles all over :eek: I don't have enough bags and can't pick it up either. I come in and had to tell the poor assistant what had happened and the poor girl cleared it up saying not to worry!!!

Mind you Monty was going in to be castrated maybe it was his revenge anyway part 2.......

Returning to vets for post op which he does not inside his room but at the shop counter!!! chatting away to vet when Monty proceeds to scoot his bum in between us.

So there am I talking to Charles the vet with my dog dragging his bum across the floor.

Oh ground swallow me up moment!!!:eek::eek::p

oh Millie!!!!! Julie I think she was just keeping you on your toes:D

She knew what a perfect walk you had with her there the other week and thought she would mix things up a bit. Perhaps the ducks were laughing at her on her way past and she ran back to put them straight!!!!:D

I did once end up in an argument with a man once as he had a similar over reaction to weller, who was about 9/ 10 months at the time, Weller was being very good and we just walked past a family that were stood next to the river. The man didn't see him until we were past them but then proceeded to shout and gather his family up, who then also started screaming and carrying on. So then of course weller had to go and investigate, to see what the fuss was about. He wasn't jumping or running but the man virtually pushed his family into the river to avoid a seriously ferocious weller.....NOT!

Some people:rolleyes:

Atleast your screamer had a sensible dad:)

Haha. A moment that comes to mind is a few weeks ago and I was at my dads house. He invited me in to show off his new and very expensive rug for his living room (more than I spent on my first car) I did the usual 'ohh ahh how lovely dad' whilst Nacho literally walked to the centre of the rug in front of us and squatted and did a lovely long wee all over it:eek: What made it worse is I panicked so went to grab him but he continued to wee all the way out to the front door, by the time I was outside he was happily relieved!

Luckily Dad found the funny side (only after I had successfully got the 1001 on it!!!

Good times!
