May suggest that when new members enrol that you offer the 'captcha' option to ensure they are not spammers (robots) and then there would be less, or no, spam?

I believe that there's also a way of preventing newbies from posting links in their posts or their signatures, until they've posted a required number of posts. It's easy to spot the genuine posters after only 2 or three posts.

The moderation team must be tearing their hair out.

Tis spam season and we're trying our best to block and deter them from posting but we can't get them all.
