Well Millie was taken for a walk today by Janet (Flounder1), whilst I was stuck indoors waiting for an engineer.

She rolled in a dead rat , nice So inevitably, I gave her a lovely long wash with lots of shampoo & conditioner.

Whilst wet I decided try emptying her anal gland. I had tried a few weeks a go, but no joy. Well today, the goo stuff came out, gross I know. But I was quite pleased with myself.

It wasn't too bad. The last time I tried, I really wasn't sure how much pressure to use or even if I was pushing in the right area. But when the really did need emptying, it took very little pressure and out it came, hey presto

Oh no just when I thought I had researched it all! Is this a 'poo' thing (sorry poor use of word) or is this something all dog owners have to do?. Can the vet take care of this? Very worried now - it may be a step too far. But then I see gorgeous pics of all the poos and I really would like one.

Yeah the vet will do it and chage you £10-£25 for the plesure. atleast at the groomers you get a bath and a hair cut at the same time.

it realy is so easy to do yourself. just do it in the bath tub and it gets washed away with the shampoo. this is something you realy should get to grips with if your home grooming.

Well done you! Bertie has troubles with his and I've tried on a couple of occassions to do it myself but I just don't have a clue - even after the vet showed me! So, he goes off to the vets to have it done, which he hates! In fact he's off there this morning to have them emptied - poor baby.
