Hello,

If any of you have read any of my other threads/comments you will know that we are delighted with Lola, she is just great. We are a week down the line and she will be 11weeks this Friday. Cutest little bean.

What I wanted to know is does anyone else timeout their puppy when they get very very hyper? She seems to get hyper after a lot of play, like she is tired but fighting it. I have been crating her and leaving her in peace and quiet for half an hour or so then taking her out for a cuddle when she is more settled and less hyper.

I suppose I'm looking for reassurance that it is ok to do this.. She protests for a few minutes then settles right down. I just don't want to be doing the wrong thing...

We also had to do this once in a while with Scarlett. Sometimes she would just get too excited and need to calm down, or need a little rest so we would put her in her crate for a short period of time and she always settled down.

Yes - i still do it now with Dexter. In fact he's there at the minute after refusing to stop biting me tonight. He's also taken some of the fridge magnets off the fridge & chewed them up. The joy of puppies !

Glad to hear this is something you are all doing... I just think they don't know when they are tired due to over stimulation. Lola likes her crate at night but it's vital for day time rest too. She was a monkey tonight... Love her though.

This all sounds too familiar lol! Minnie is also 11 weeks and can get a monkey! I also put her in her cage as time out when she gets to uncontrollable! She is starting to slowly learn and it defiantly calms her down!

I give her a cuddle after she's calmed down and she's back to being lovely again lol :) x x

Maybe the second time around is easier and your more laid back. Like having a second baby.. Hehe
I actually think that is true to some degree...you certainly know what to expect and know that a lot of stuff is just a phase that will pass but also think that some pups are just easier than others...we certainly had a baptism if fire with Betty!
