Hi All!

We brought Toby home yesterday and so far, he has been as good as gold! :D

The only issue is that he is not eating. He's on Arden Grange puppy food, which I moisten, as the breeder suggested, but it's an uphill struggle trying to get him to eat anything! I thought little of it yesterday as I thought it was probably quite an exciting day for him, so that might have put him off his food, but this morning, it is still the same (I thought he would be starving!!!!).

Any tips as to how to get him to eat?

Thanks,
N x

Congratulations and Welcome to you and Toby!( Toby is my eldest boys name! and so i love your choice:)) As far as food goes like Kendal said he is still adjusting to his new home, and may be a bit off his Arden Grange. If he still seems off it within the next couple of days maybe try a wet food,as from what i gather they do tend to like this more! Pixie is on NI(natural instinct) which is a raw food and she loves it,although not to everybodys taste you will find quite a few of us have chosen this route. Origen is a great kibble also, very tasty and rich,Pixie has this as training treats, she will do anything for them! Natures Diet, and Natures Menu are good wet foods too,and my mum feeds her Cockapoo pup on Wainwrights trays which is a real hit too.....so im not suggesting you change straight away, but if you do want to there are many great healthy puppy foods out there:D Have fun with your new boy! x

Dont worry too much about the eating in the first few days .. it is a big change for Toby and many pups dont eat too much whilst they are settling in .. it doesn't mean he doesn't like his food.. As long as he is drinking and toilets are fine .... he will eat in good time :)

We would love to see some pics ... :)

Hi there, I'm sure Toby will be fine, is that what he was eating with the breeder?. Alot of pups dont eat initially, its a big move for them and alot seem to be fussy eaters. We were then fussy with Wilf, my son pretending to eat his food often worked, or lining it up on the floor towards the bowl was a good one.. or hand feeding....oh dear :D

Hi Ya! Yes the first day is always a little bit too exciting, so don't worry too much. Nacho eats Burns dried food for puppies and adult toy breeds which he loves. Definitely do not let Toby eat any human food or refrain from treats. (I used his Burns food biscuits as treat biscuits for the first few weeks when he was having lots of rewards for being good and I swear he doesn't know the difference!

Eventually he will settle and i'm sure he will guzzle it down. Nacho is the worst gannet ever now! A complete greed - I thought he was having some kind of fit when I got the steaks out of the fridge yesterday! His eyes literally popped out of his head!

Good luck x
