Although kiaya hasn't got her adult coat yet she has been getting some mats around her hind quarters. She is getting pretty good at being groomed but i'd like to do what I can to help prevent them from forming in the first place. I've ordered some Tropiclean d-mat and notice that it can be diluted up to 1 in 10. What ratio do people who use it find to be the most effective please? I know that it isn't the complete answer to matting but i'd like grooming to be as stress free for her as possible.

Hi Jan, I have never diluted the d-mat for Freddy's coat. I wash him in Tropiclean Shampoo and then spray it liberally all over his coat and then blow dry him with the hair dryer. It makes his coat lovely and silky and easier to comb through any matts.

[Just checked my bottle and its actually called Tropiclean detangler, don't know if it is something different to your d-mat, I have a feeling that they changed the name]

the D-mat comes in a gallon bottle and is the wash out one the D-tangle comes in the spray bottle is the leave in but i dodnt like the leave in one. im realy bad at moths and working out ratios so i just go by eye and textur. you learn through trial and error what works best for your dogs coat.

i use it as a conditoner in the bath and rince off, i have in the past used it on the dry coat saturating it and brushing they rincing off which did work but its better on a clean dog. and i now have my grooming arm the hold my drier so i can brush and dry like at work which is much easier.

i didnt like the leave in one as it leaves the coat with a greasy texture that i wasnt happy with, so i would prefer to rince off after use
