Woody has had his first shot at 8 weeks. I've been told that he shouldn't have any contact with other dogs until he has had his first three shots. Which means he won't get to socialize with other puppies until 16 weeks old.

I've also looked into enrolling him in puppy classes. And some will enrol puppies at 8 weeks old, which means they couldn't have had all of their shots yet.

What do you guys think? How old were your poos before you let them play with other puppies?

most member on hear are from the uk out pups only get 2 shots, one at 7-8 weeks the other around 12-14 weeks(depending on the vet).

most puppy classes start after the 2nd vacc. my two youngest were around other dogs from 8 weeks old because we already attended training class so we new all the dogs were vaccinated.

but i dont know about where you are so it might be a bit more of a risk.

Kendal is right, most people on here are from the UK & only have 2 vacs, my girls had their second ones at 10 weeks & we had to wait 2 weeks before they could go out.
However with our oldest one we had a couple of friends with dogs (vacs up to date) so they got to meet early. & with our second one we already had the first so she got loads of socialising lol
Good luck, hope you can sort out the best thing for you & your pup :)

I'm a little bit wary of taking him to a dog park without his vaccinations done, but I would love to let him play with my friend's puppy (who is 6 months, up to date with vaccines)?

My friend tells me it should be ok. What do you guys think?

id say its fine, i mean think about it, if you already have a dog and get a new puppy then your pup with be mixing with the older dog in the house, you dont keep them apart till all vacc are done.

so going to your frinds or them brining their pup to you should be fine.

hi

i have been advised that i can take RocketDog to someone elses house or get friends to bring their dog to my house. that said when dogs have come into my house they have smelt his pee (from his accidents) and have gone around marking (splended!). hence to say i take RocketDog to friends houses now.
