:mad::mad::mad:

We were out having a lovely walk on the beach, Coco was running ahead having great fun, she came across 2 pointers. I did not recall her as she was not bothering them, and the owner of the pointers was making a fuss of her anyway. We caught up and I noticed the guy giving Coco a treat, it looked like a dog biscuit so I was not too bothered, even thanked him.

As we walked away, hubby says you do realise that was a twix bar he gave Coco?:eek: Hubby was not sure enough at the time to say something to the guy, but then the kids confirmed it was definately a Twix bar.

Tonight Coco has left her dinner for the first time ever:(. I'm of course thinking the chocolate has made her feel ill.

I would NEVER offer someones dog chocolate???, to be honest, I'd even confirm first whether I could give any treat, I'd not assume it was going to be ok:mad:

So tell me, how bad is this?...will she be ok?

She just had a very runny poo, another first for her, it has to be the chocolate...hopefully that is it out of her system, poor baby. If I see anyone go to treat her again, I'm going to make myself look like a right fishwife and holler loudly not to:(

I am sure she will be ok. I don't think the quantity or quality of the chocolate on a twix is enough to harm her but all that sugar and goo probably will have given her the runny bum! Give her something simple and some natural yoghurt to settle her tum and she will be fine. :)

Yes can definitely understand you being annoyed, it's surprising how many dog owners that don't realise chocolate is not good for dogs however I think she will be fine as the amount of choc on a twix after the biscuit and caramel isn't going to be that much, just keep an eye on her and if she's still being sick in the morning then perhaps give your vet a call x

A silly thing for that person to do, but dont worry too much, I remember many years ago my daughter went on a school trip to France (she is 30 now) and she visited chocolatier and brought a bag full home, they were awful which was probably why they came home uneaten, I left them on the table, my then dog Toby (thought to be a staffy/beagle cross) ate the lot overnight, he suffered no ill effects at all so I am sure coco will be fine with the amount of chocolate on a twix.

What a cement head!! No way to correct it now, something that thoughtless will probably never happen again, but glad you posted as I will be on alert as others will now due to you sharing. Thank you . . Poor baby, sure tummy is upset a bit from the chocolate . . I hope all will be well in the morning.

I would always ask someone if I can give their dog a treat anyway even if it was a dog treat as you just don't know if they have a condition that makes treats a no no, people just don't think, not surprised you were angry. I'm sure she'll be fine though.

This is awful. I would be very cross! A dog owner gave your dog a whole chocolate bar? That is just unbelievable. I'm sorry. Hope your baby Coco is ok!

My next door neighbour used to breed dogs and one day when I was round with my mum's dog (Tessa, cocker spaniel) I noticed her giving her some dark chocolate (I know, the WORST!!) but because of the way the situation was playing out I didn't feel I could say anything (it's hard to explain it in words but take it from me, it couldn't have gone down well). Anyway, so when we got Willow I made a MASSIVE point of saying that I had read that chocolate was bad for dogs and made the point stronger by saying that Willow has a very dodgy tummy and can only eat dog treats. I just can't believe that people who have spent their lives with dogs don't know this!! Luckily Tessa was fine by the way! My mum has always fed her grapes (which are also very toxic to dogs) but Tessa is 16 and still going strong so she must have lead lining in her tummy!!
